Unfortunately with phones from Softbank, everything is different ....
For some reason that we're unaware of, SoftBank are refusing to implement the Japanese government decree that carriers should provide an unlock option for their phones (DdCoMo implemented it as of last summer). SoftBank won't be able to evade this for ever.
With SoftBank Android phones, the SIM lock is in the NAND and according to Japanese posters "it is relatively easy to disable" but they refuse to explain how as this seems to be a criminal offense in Japan.
We are working on it. There is more and more information coming out so I am sure it won't be long before we crack this lock ourselves. Of course, as soon as we succeed, everyone will know. Naturally, if people need to pay for this unlock at all, it will in no way be a rip off price like the Russian profiteers' price!

AFAIK, the Government stance was an "advisory" - it isn't law that they have to adhere to. They only need to make one phone available for the unlock to comply, anyway![]()
Ah, too bad then... Well, would have been nice if it were law.
By the way, EU regulations (not "advisory") are being prepared that should have a pretty similar effect - and they were concerned with not just the transferability of numbers but also of the actual phone you buy from a carrier - meaning that carriers in Europe will not be allowed to put locks on their phones. But these regulations won't see the day of light before 2014 I think...
There's no unlock menu to input the code... it's always easier to 'hack' the unlock the phone can be unlocked via the carrier - see the AT&T iPhone thing- for years the only unlocks possible for those were the unauthorized unlocks, but almost immediately after AT&T announced they would unlock off-contract iPhones there are now all sorts of companies claiming to be able to get your iPhone's IMEI into the iTunes database to get it factory unlocked and such.

Everyone's on their own for hypersims. I'm out har har har har har~~~~
is it so difficult to write to the PM? and where the person who wrote it lost IMEI earlier and to whom I gave the code. I think he could say "thank you" or just happened to write a release or not.
is no longer going to do good deeds for people trying, but they do not even think it necessary to respond ...... sad.![]()
