BYOP discount for those with own phones

I just read this on the Mobilesyrup... There is a new BYOP discount program. They give you 10% for future phone purchase credit. Isn't this worse than the current $5/$10 off your bill program, considering most bills are $50-100 per month anyway? Do we have to switch or the old BYOPs are grandfathered?

I think this new discount program is only for people who sign up with the smartphone plans - I brought in my own phone and got $5 off my bill per month.

If you sign up on a supertab then you are not untitled to the BYOP credit

The new BYOP program is inferior then.

The old program gave you cash and instaneously.
The new one gives you phone credit and future use.

I am glad that I signed up a few weeks ago.
