Welcome and nice choice on the phone. I've been using Android phones from Samsung for the past year or so and I've been very happy. You should see a vast improvement when it comes to reception, coming from T-Mobile and Sprint.

Well after leaving Sprint I went to T-Mobile for a bit on a prepaid phone and while the service with T-Mobile is fine I just don't like my phone at all. The Wildfire S just isn't a very good fit for me and honestly most of the prepaid android devices just aren't for me. Sprint has bad service at my house and honestly I've had enough run in's with them in the past to not fool with them ever again. T-Mobile really wasn't that much cheaper than AT&T or Verizon and honestly there phone line up is pretty lacking at this time. So it came down to AT&T or Verizon for me since I'm going back to postpaid service. Price wise they are the same but what really clinched going to AT&T for me was the fact that AT&T throws in Unlimited any mobile calling if you have Unlimited Messaging.
I haven't used AT&T in many years, When I had them though no issues. Anyways I chose the Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket and I should get it Wednesday. Can't wait to get my new phone and its such an upgrade from this HTC Wildfire S that I have right now!

Honestly T-Mobile's voice network has been fine for me but in spots there data is lacking. My T-Mobile phone still hits 2G spots in certain parts of this area and AT&T is rock solid covered here with HSPA+. So my data speeds even without LTE here should be much better on AT&T. Sprint's been pretty crappy at my house though and they don't have WiMax here and there EVDO network is pretty slow, Sprints data in this area is very lacking and the weak service at my house didn't help matters.
I normally prefer HTC phones but I just really like how the skyrocket looks and feels. I picked up the white one btw.
I use the Note now and I had the Infuse before. My brother has the Skyrocket and my sister has the Galaxy SII. No major problems other than my brother's first Skyrocket had a dead pixel from the factory. It was towards the center of the screen and it was very noticeable, so he exchanged it within 30 days.
I was looking at the One X, but I noticed it doesn't have expandable memory (16 gig internal). I don't think I could buy a phone without expandable memory nowadays.
The Note looks nice but honestly it's just too freaking big!!! I am use to a smaller form I even find the Skyrocket to be a bit large for me but I like the nice screen and its a thin form so I'll be ok with it. The HTC Wildfire S I have though is too small plus the 150 MB of internal memory is too small for any applications to really be installed. I ended up taking a Refurb Skyrocket for free, a new one would have cost me $175. I thought why not take the refurb it still has the same return/exchange policy and with insurance in the future if something happens to it, its still covered the same.
Yeah, the refurbs can be good deals, but they only have a 90 day warranty. I will say that most refurbs seem to hold up just as long as a new phone. Make sure you add insurance within 30 days if you plan on getting it from AT&T.
(And you're right, the Note is a big phone. But it's very rarely too big. The only time that I have ever disliked the size is when I am using it one handed and I try to reach the other side of the screen. It's a pretty nice device.)
It's a good option for a lot of people, but I personally haven't had a valid reason to make an insurance claim on a single phone in the past 6+ years of owning a smartphone. I guess you could consider me to be lucky (and I switch phones often), but I think if you take care of your device, it prevents the majority of claims.
Verizon still has the best Android phones.
I usually support government regulation, but It is unfortunate that the government over-regulated and killed the AT&T/ T-Mobile Merger
The best explanation of the pricing nutiness in the industry.
Why Sprint and T-Mo will always suck.
The only way to end the pricing insanity is to eliminate contracts and subsidies.
I want Wifi calling on AT&T.
If you text while driving, you're an idiot. End of story.
The Note belongs in a circus freak show. They have had all of the top Android phones for at least a year or two, and even then, before that there was the Nexus devices and G1 on T-Mo, and the EVO on Sprint, but Verizon still had the OG DROID and DROID 2. AT&T has never had the top Android phone. As usual, Verizon has it now with the DROID RAZR MAXX (unless you want a real GNex, which would be AT&T or T-Mobile).
I've never used an insurance claim as well but considering many smart phones are in the $500-600 and sometimes even higher full retail I'd rather not risk it. So I've always taken out insurance on a phone and really since phones can be easily broken and even lost or stolen given the high retail price of a smart phone everybody with one should carry insurance.
Let's not turn this into a carrier war. Verizon and AT&T though do have the best lineup of phones though I have to admit, which one of the biggest two has the best selection is up for debate and just plain preference though. I will admit phone selection had a little to do with my choice though, T-Mobile really wasn't that much cheaper than Verizon or AT&T but T-Mobile really didn't really have a phone that stuck out at me. In addition T-Mobile's slower data network here made me think its worth it to pay a bit more and switch to AT&T for more of a phone I want and faster data. As I said I almost went with Verizon because they have great coverage in my area and LTE is super fast but my friends are spread across carriers so the Unlimited Calling to Any Mobile on AT&T was my deciding factor in the end for AT&T.
I really wish Verizon offered their version of any mobile nationwide.
The only thing that interests me on verizon is the Droid Maxx....but the OS looks like a complete mess on that thing and the screen isn't exactly stellar. The Galaxy Nexus could be had for AT&T if desired.
