Have you considered using a Cradlepoint or similar router with a USB 3g/4g adapter?

We are an indirect agent and are using a mixture of 2200, 4510 and 4620 Mifi devices. We use these to access eROES, RQ4, everything internet. Some locations have the 4G, and the speeds are seemingly fine. Other locations are 3G, and have been nothing but trouble. Any time along the eROES process, there can be any number of hang-ups. I've done internet speed tests, barely managing to average 500kbps. Even with the 4G coverage, the Mifi's will kick computers off of the network.
Though I am hopeful, hoping that maybe other stores use these devices for in-store internet. Is there anyone out there? I'd love to hear that there are, and that maybe some are having success doing it. It's great to show customers that we use our own internet devices, but I'd have more faith in it if they weren't such a headache for what we use them for. I know they are great for casual use, but I'm having trouble getting them to work for business critical applications.
Any input is greatly appreciated![]()

I have looked into that. Though I'm not entirely sure it will solve our problems if the internet speed itself is the cause of our eROES issues. I will chalk that up on the board as a top option! I'll be ordering a medialink usb wireless adapter to replace the problem adapters we already have. Keep 'em coming! Appreciate that quick response there, nmos![]()
3g has pretty limited upload bandwidth so a single user sending a large email attachment or whatever could drag the entire thing down. If you haven't already, I'd seperate off Eros and other business critical systems onto it's own adapter (preferably hard wired) and make darn sure those systems are not generating any excess traffic.

Limit as much as possible any wifi connections to your main computers. Not only is security slightly less, but it is somewhat less stable. The VZW mifi is OK for most applications, but if you have a bunch of people using it all at once in demanding and time sensitive fashion your company is making a mistake, especially when another alternative is readily available.
TIME IS MONEY. Tell your owner to stop being so cheap and just pay the money to the cable company, and do it right. A data card is great for a back-up and the $50 a month you might save is simply not worth the hassle is what we have discovered.
I have been using a 4G mifi in one of my stores and have similar issues with EROES, even on 4G. Sometimes takes 10 seconds just to switch to another screen. Just stalls out. My POS system also does the same on it. Other sites seem to do fine but it has been a huge pain in the butt. I like saving $50+ a month but I am about to turn the DSL back on.
We use a 4G Novatel MiFi for non critical systems (tablets, bill pay kiosk, demo phones) but use DSL for the main Point of Sales.
