I have a Motorola xt862 (Droid 3) that I transferred my Alltel number to from a Milestone a854. I had to manually program the mdn/min so i could activate it. Unfortunately I am unable to receive/transfer mms nor use any data. I have backed up my apn settings from my milestone and restored them using APN Backup/Restore to no avail. I have tried using APNs from xda and droidforums but they didn't work at all. Now I have a couple apn files that do not resolve the issue and my original that I backed up. I have tried tweaking things like username and password and mms addresses based on the differences I've seen in others lists.
The device is still using a stock vzw rom and as far as I know nothing is unlocked. It supports GSM/CDMA but you can only select APNs in GSM Mode which will not work since I'm on CDMA Network. So with what reading and research I've done I'm still unsure what APN settings I need and if that's the only way to a solution.
Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank You
--First Alltel rep I spoke with for ESN change told me they would only support Alltel devices which I thought is stupid and more of a marketing ploy than anything else. I called back and second rep assisted me in getting the ESN changed to xt862 but when I dialed *228 or any variation I knew it would only go to VZW towers and asked for VZW number. That's when I manually set mdn and min and then *228 worked. I've tried 228, 22800, and 22801 but still no data. Now I've a few messages I'm unable to read/download and I cannot go back to my Milestone due to defective screen. Shortly after backing up it's APNs someone completely broke screen to where it's bent so I can't do much with it unless I replace screen.
