I need a new phone now as my less then a year old HTC Incredible S has been a dud.

Would I be better off going with the Galaxy Nexus or Galaxy S2 HD LTE through Bell? Lately, I've been drawn toward the Nexus as I've always wanted to try the pure android experience, but the lack of removable storage and weaker camera concerns me.

Or would I be better off waiting for the next generation of phones in the summer/fall and picking up a Galaxy Nexus through Google in the USA. The advantage with this route is I spend a bit more now on an older phone but can upgrade at a cheaper price when the new phones come out in the next few months.

    Doom4life,

I have read your comment in another thread. As I have mentioned there, my major concern with the Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE (SGH-I757M) is relatively high power consumption. If you have decided to go for it, be wise to get a spare battery and standalone charger. I do not know if the reviewing unit is defective or not, but both synthetic benchmark and real-world usage show me the same kind of disappointing battery... only lasts for my typical usage for half a day. Yet, the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE (SGH-I727R) does not behave this poorly in power consumption. So I suspect the HD display may be the reason, rather than just the LTE operations.

    Thanks for the reply HC.

I think I'm going to go with the Galaxy Nexus just to save my hardware upgrade eligibility for a future phone. I've always wanted to try a pure Android OS as there are little things with my current HTC that drive me nuts.

    Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.80 (Android 2.2.1; Linux; Opera Tablet/ADR-1205181138; U; en) Presto/2.10.254 Version/12.00)

I've never much cared for HTC's Sense UI. Other than some nifty weather app graphics, I'll take Samsung's UI anyday.

Just wanted to point out that ICS update is out there. Running it as we speak. Direct to 4.04.

Still Gingerbread build for the Bell's Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE (SGH-I757M). Perhaps, provide us with more information, particularly the HIDSWVER. Thank you.

    Folks,

I think I can fill in some blanks.

First of all, thanks weedb0y for offering more information. To protect your privacy (and seriously your job), I will not post anything you have shown me in the open forum that may get you into troubles.

There is no "international" variant and the only equivalent is the cancelled at&t Skyrocket HD SGH-I757. SGH-I757M is the Bell specific variant.

According to my other source, the ICS "update" has not signed off for the public release. So whether it has been leaked out by mistake or the otherwise, we will not get it through KIES at this moment.
