Well, I would love to get one as long as it is a redesign, and by a redesign I don't just mean a stretched iphone 4 / 4s.....
Get ready to be dissapointed. Its probably going to be called the iPhone 4shd. Its going to look like the 4s except stretched for the 16:9 screen. All creativity is gone at apple with Steve. They are not innovating, they are trying to stifle and stop the competition through litigation and heavily worded letters to retailers instead of designing new and innovative products.
I have purchased my last apple product and I'm in the process of liquidating all apple products out of my house because I don't like how they are trying to stop the competition and force retailers to pull competing products. Sounds really desparate to me. Not a company who is concentrating on new design.
I hope I'm wrong with the new phone, I guess we will see soon enough.
I'm really just hoping for T-Mobile USA support because it'll allow it to work on Wind here in Canada. It's unlikely though, and that sucks since I can't deal with big Canadian carrier prices any longer. If it does work on Wind I'll buy it outright if I have to.
My Plan - $60

I don't understand why some people were disappointed with the 4S. The iPhone 4/4S is a great looking phone, and the 4S gave it a big performance boost and fixed the antenna-gate problem.
Do people complain that their brand new aluminum MacBooks look the same as the ones 4 years ago? Nope. Because they look great, and all the important changes have been on the inside.
Do people complain when their 2013 Porsche 911 looks very similar to a 1963 Porsche 911? It seems all Porsche did was take a good design and make minor styling changes over the years, while making huge changes to everything under the skin.
But I'm with Furry Atom in hoping for an iPhone compatible with the T-Mobile 3G/Wind/Mobilicity. I'm saving way too much with Mobilicity to consider going back to the Big 3, even if it means I can't use the iPhone.

Why will we be disappointed? 4S followed the same strategy as 3GS, an upgraded version of its predecessor. Just like I am certain iPhone 5S will follow in 2013. 4 was a pretty good evolution of 3G/3GS, was it not? From a business perspective it is brilliant and no one should have been surprised. I'll be worried about Apple if the iPhone 5 is merely an upgrade and not an evolution of the hardware.
I actually don't want the size and shape of iPhone to change much. A 16x9 screen and relocated headphone jack are my only real interests, which are exactly what rumors have been indicating.
Edit: Oh and I would totally support having the front camera moved to the centre, as I find my finger keeps getting in the way of shots.

Most people were hoping for a total redesign of the iphone to prove that apple still had it after Steve died. I myself included. they have yet to introduce anything to blow my mind and make me run out and get it yet. my pad and iphone were two devices i had to get. they are both two generations old now and the New stuff is exactly the same as the old stuff. same with the New macbooks. same ole same ole.
The only design element that is the Same from the 65 porsche and 2013 is round headlights. the equivalent to the screen being rectangular on a New phone.
Other than those that change phones every year the fact that apple has teh 3g/3gs and 4/4s 2 year redesign schedule probably fits really well with those on 2 or 3 year contracts.
a) less buyers remorse the in the second year since the new phone is similar
b) in 2-3 years they get something totally new.
This years unit does need to be a redesign.. if it is just taller I am really not going to care... It needs something significantly new in the hardware.

It seems every other builder moves ahead every year. How come the iPhone can't. I bought two devices in the past year. No biggy. Apple has not and look where they are now. Getting slaughtered by android phone sales. They are running scared to the point that they are threatening retailers who sell competitive products. How pathetic. The lemmings will keep apple going but they will not gain any market share in either sector.

Why do you care how other consumers spend their money and why should people be interested in how you spend yours?

You have your history wrong and your reasons are therefore without merit. Steve jobs died the day AFTER the 4S was announced. He knew exactly what Apple was making for the next iPhone. Your talk of people hoping for a redesign after Steve died makes no sense at all, and it sounds more like an excuse for not having an actual reason to be disappointed.

Apple doesn't care about market share, they care about profits. Apple's profits off of the iPhone are larger than every other Android manufacturer combined. Mostly due to the fact that in Q1 2012 every Android manufacturer except Samsung and HTC LOST MONEY.[1] They aren't getting slaughtered at all, because in the business world market share is irrelevant if you don't make any money. Apple sure must be afraid of a bunch of companies that make no money. Here's an idea. Stop making bad arguments that don't make any sense, if you're going to pretend the 4S was disappointing or that Apple is afraid of Android, prove it with facts, not easily debunked fiction.

In another thread you claimed you'd gotten rid of all your Apple stuff. Then you still owned an iPad. Now you are still in the process of liquidating. Is it that hard to keep your stories straight?
That aren't forcing retailers to pull competing products. They are forcing them to pull infringing products. Maybe you actually don't understand the difference. I'd say that was typical. Would you understand the word?

If you only see the exterior as being similar and don't see the functional differences between models, you truly belong in the Android world. The new iPad, for example, is worlds ahead of original. The display alone is far ahead. The rest of the exterior looks almost the same, I guess, but not everyone buys the bright shiny things just because it's bright and shiny. I suppose if they had revamped the exterior they could have drawn some of those looking for bright and shiny.

Given your history, I wonder how much of what you post is actually true. You've been caught making stuff up before.
Now, as for lemmings, if you truly bought two devices in the last year, who's the lemming? They release it and you run out and buy it. Sounds like a lemming to me.
Why should Apple release multiple models in a year? I am not sure how much business experience you have, but if you sink a pile of money into R&D for a product, the wise decision is to squeeze as much out of that product as possible. I expect that concept will go straight over your head. Perhaps a university level business course, even a 101 level , could help provide some insight for you. Those community colleges really don't do enough to develop independent, critical thinking skills, do they?
Where exactly is Apple getting slaughtered? They seem to be doing quite well. Even someone with just a CC diploma should be able to see that. Meanwhile, every Android vendor in the world, except for Sammy, is bleeding to death. But Apple is getting slaughtered? Way to put that 'highly educated' (your words) brain of your to use.
You really do make me laugh. The jokes about 'highly educated' fantards write themselves.
