You'll have to get it on Boost the same way as the rest of the Sprint Android phones - via MEID altering (blah blah blah, legal can of worms, blah blah blah).

Boost doesn't have BYOD for Sprint Android devices. Normally what happens is someone clones say, an Incognito's MEID to, for example, an Evo 3D. So Boost, not knowing any better, thinks your Evo 3D is an Incognito and allows you to use the PAYGO plan. The problem with this in a post-4G Boost Mobile world is that the 4G WiMax service is provided by an entirely separate entity (Clear) and unless Boost thinks you're using the Evo Design (or any future released 4G phones), Clear will never get the message that your WiMax MAC address is authorized on their network. The end result is exactly what people with 4G phones flashed to Boost get: no 4G.

Now, there are people who have working 4G by way of a cloned MAC address. Some of these people do have legitimate WiMax service on another device (tablet, laptop, bundled with their home ISP, etc.) Others are basically piggy backing on service someone else pays for, and that is just plain old illegal (like stealing cable). The opportunity the Evo Design opens up is that it may be possible to use it as a donor and, for example, use Boost with 4G on an Epic Touch instead. $299 is a lot to spend on a donor phone, though.

Really though, the whole thing is absurd and Boost should just implement actual BYOD.

Good point. I didn't even think about the fact that a cheap donor phone will probably be restricted from accessing the WiMax network. It looks like there is a way to get it done, since apparently some people have 4G working on Evos. I'll have to look into it more. I'm definitely not about to drop $300 on a donor phone, though. Worst case, I'll just stick to my original plan of tethering on T-Mobile.

this is the 1st i have heard of Sprint doing any throttling… any proof on this ..??
    iPhone 4S on AT$T: Unlimited Talk, Text & Web w/NO throttling….
iPhone 4 on Boost Mobile: Talk, text, MMS & 3G Data .. since 6.11.12

If you can't see that todays society has gone to sh*t, then you ARE the problem or PART of the problem…

No, your 3G phone can't magically become 4G once it is available. The hardware in the phone initially determines what types of towers/data speeds are available to it.

Sprint throttles? I thought their only promise was to throttle prepaid customers, and tethering-plan customers, and mobile hotspot customers. Regular postpaid non-officially-tethering smartphone usage doesn't count (yet). Because that's really helpful.

it kind of upsets me that boosts evo has a 4" screen and no gorilla glass but virgin mobiles evo will have a 4.3" screen and i believe gorilla glass.
