Boost mobile going 4G WiMAX July 2012

BM and VM is going WiMAX in June/July. So expect EVO's to pop up on each carrier. I'm leaving Verizon that day.

Flashed devices will not get 4g. Just as you cannot flash a 1g donor and get 3g you cannot use a non-4g donor phone to get 4g on your flashed phone.

If anyone is aware of how to go about getting 3g out of a 1g donor I'm all ears.

This is a great idea. It will give Sprint branded prepaids the 1st 4g phones (in areas that have wimax) on top of having better hardware. Im pretty sure the price plans will be like the blackberry and be $60 a month to cover the cost of the 4g.

I figured there would be a cap once that did offer it.

Personally wouldnt be surprised if they started offering the iphone 4 (not the 4s) by yrs end once the 5 comes out to help offset the # of iphones Sprint has to buy from Apple.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for an iPhone on Boost. iPhones and unlimited data plans are the only carrots Sprint has left to get 2 year contracts signed. They'll dump Android phones onto Boost and Virgin like there's no tomorrow to be competitive in the prepaid arena, sure - but the iPhone is their golden child that brings in the big bucks.

Not so. With the next iphone slated to be LTE, those in areas set for LTE this yr will want a 4g unlimited iphone. Boost and/or Virgin can simply throttle them the same as the they will do the wimax phones.

Companies like Straight Talk now sell unlocked sims and micro sims (for iphone 4/4s) and is direct competition for Sprint prepaid.

I remember when Boost unlimited became nationwide on the iden network, they said there would never be a prepaid Blackberry on Boost and they did it. Just saying, never say never and the time would be now (this yr) with the big push for LTE.

The differences are that the Blackberry didn't raise ARPU like the iPhone does, and the iPhone is an awfully expensive handset when not subsidized.

Another thing. Its cool that Boost mobile is getting 4g. Hopefully the subscribers are going to get offered a nice 4g handset at an affordable price without too much of a price hike.

Only thing is... Who has 4g coverage? I know I dont. I'm not going to be jumping on the 4g bandwagon till I definitely have 4g coverage!

My logic is because whether or not Sprint sells x # of iphones, they have to buy probably more then they can sell on the Sprint side buy itself throughout the course of the deal. Now if Apple does what the did with the 3gs and continue to make them for another yr, then I can see Sprint trying to offload some of them on at least Virgin for $250-$300 and they will buy it with no problem just to have a iphone with no contract even if its throttled.

Just last yr, everyone was saying Boost would never get 4g, it happened because they have the deal with Clear even with them going to LTE. I say it will happen with the iphone because they may get stuck with a good # of the iphone 4 when they have a stock of iphone 5 and 4s. Having them sit there and collect dust will be pointless.

    Ill stand by my reasons.

Contract customers are where the money is. If Sprint ends up with leftover iPhones, "free with contract" is how they'll most likely be unloaded.
