Problem is a few of the TMFL phones from HSN are only DMFL form TF (like the LG500G)

I don't know about the S390 because I can't find it for sale on the TF site.
But, and LG800G or T404 should be replaced with a TMFL phone like TF sells.

Per my wife (I haven't seen it yet) the replacement S390 is in standard packaging, labeled as TMFL.
That's why I don't expect any change with data charges.

annepani, was your replacement in the retail packaging too?

Thanks for product info ST. I'm learning a lot here. FYI: In my case HSN sent me to TF for replacement. TF sent me a reconditioned LG800G. It came in a box marked TFLG800GR, no retail pkg. HSN keeps saying they're out of it, TF is the provider. I've got about 14 hours over 22 days into solving the issue. Still no joy, no phone. Found out that with the 2 year added HSN protection they said I would have been better off to throw it against the wall. HSN will replace it then, if it's broken.

However, the S390G seems to be functioning OK, so far...as long as I make sure to launch Wi-Fi before I hit Browser to avoid massive minute loss. Using my domain's webmail is a little tough. I need to find a better way to view that. Thanks again.

    annepani,
What do you have to loose by activating the new S390G to see if it still charges incorrectly?
Also, it would be good to put a link it your closed thread pointing to this thread - maybe you can modify that post to do so and make it easy to get here.

    ST Dog,
Looking forward to your results with the replacement phone.

    One or both of you,
What test have you successfully used on the phone with Tracfone CS to convince them that there's a problem with the phone? I need to call, but would like advice from you on what to tell them.
    Cheers!

    Castle21,

Can you post a link to your LG800G phone thread issue so this thread does not get polluted please? I have a LG800G also and would like to follow that issue on the other thread.

I can't edit it now. It is already closed. But I will ask the mods to insert a link in the post.

You haven't experienced massive minute loss until you have sent a picture of about 500kb via MMS. That is a typical size for a picture taken by the camera in this phone.

Just make sure you are sitting down when you do it.

Also make sure to put it in Airplane Mode before launching WiFi. The WiFi in this phone routinely drops the connection and then you will be operating on cell data minutes without any notice or warning.

You will know you have dropped the connection when the WiFi icon changes from green to blue.

Yeah, I suggest setting it to VGA (640x480) if you know you'll just be sending it to another phone. It'll get downsized on the receiving phone anyway. Kind of a pain though because I keep all my pics at full size (8MP on my S III) just in case I want want to print it later. I wouldn't want to leave my phones on VGA *all* the time just because TracFone can't get their data charges right.
Castrol EDGE 5W-30 is my drug of choice.

    Primary: iPhone 6 64GB, Galaxy Note 3, Lumia 635: 5 lines, 3x $5 Android web, 1x $2.99 T-Zones, corp discount + $10/mo loyalty discount = $93/mo tax inclusive
Secondary: iPhone 4S & LG Ultimate 2: TracFone (Verizon)
Tablet: iPad Mini Retina w/ T-Mobile 4G LTE ($10/mo for 5GB with hotspot)

Not sure what you mean. The reps can be convinced, but it takes time. Bit, they don't know how to fix it.

You'll never manage to talk to anyone else at the company.

Ha, try loading att.yahoo.com with the built in browser.

    tfusr19,
That the test I've been using. It load in under a minute, and charges ~23 units.

Hard for them to get that wrong as you give them parameter 30 before, go there, then give them param 30 again.

No one has figured out how to spoof that parameter, but they can decode it and verifies the claim you make as to the charge.

The S390G has a setting for the maximum size when sending MMS, and one to auto resize to when sending (The T301 did that and no option to turn it off)

    Settings->Applications -> Messages

Under delivery options, the 4th option down is the max message size for MMS (older TFs are stuck at 300KB)

Under Auto Resize Image you can turn it off, or have images resized to a max of 100KB, 300KB, or 600KB.

On the charger. I'll do it tomorrow when I can call Miami to help ensure it's done right, an I can immediately test for the "fix" and maybe escalate from there.

Just posted a new thread as requested, if it helps others. Sorry, linking not allowed yet.

New thread: LG800G HSN/TF Heads Up

ST Dog has some good product info regarding replacements. Maybe he can post a link to his input on the new thread.
