Not a keitai, but a Motorola Android flip phone (but without keypad)

Well, as the title says, this shouldn't go here because it has nothing to do with keitais, however I know that many of us (included myself) wanna know which are the clamshell/flip android phones in existance (In fact, I've bought the 007SH not because it is a keitai, but because it's an Android clamshell phone with good specs).

Anyways, I think I should share what I found about a Motorola android flip phone. It's called "Motorola Motosmart Flip XT611", and, at least for now, it's exclusive for Perú. The phone was announced 29th March of 2012. I don't know the price, but they say that it's gonna be cheap, and they're talking about the Perú market so if you wanna import it, I guess it wouldn't be expensive at all.

As you may notice, it's not like all the flip phones: Motorola decided to make transparent a significant part of the top part (I would have prefered it to be normal). Other significant difference: NO KEYPAD.

    Specs

    GSM: 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz

    3G UMTS: 850 / 1900 Mhz – 900 / 2100 Mhz

    GPRS - EDGE Class 12 – HSDPA

    -Android 2.3.5 with MotoSwitch interface

-Screen: 3.2 inches TFT capacitive screen with resolution of HVGA 480 x 320 píxels

    -Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7227T – CPU: Scorpion ARM11 800 Mhz – ARMv6 - Single core - GPU: Adreno 200

    -RAM: 512MB

    -a-GPS

-Camera: 5 megapíxels (2592 x 1936) with autofocus, LED Flash, 4x Digital zoom

    -Front facing camera: 0.3 megapíxeles (640 x 480)

    -Records video at 480p (800 x 480 píxels), between 15 to 20 fps

    -Supports up to 32GB microSD

-Battery: Li-ion 1540 mAh (9 hours of talk time / 500 hours of standby)

As you could see, not impressive at all but neither "sucky". Compared to the SH7218U, the motorola phone has a better processor (not MUCH better), and bigger battery (and this phone is tinier). However the SH7218U has one of the best cameras available (I haven't seen sample pictures taken with this motorola flip phone, but cmon, being realistic it has 0% of chances to be at the same level, in fact, how can it be if the motorola phone records video at a very choppy framerate).

Finally, I must say that the phone would have been 100% better with a Motorola V3 form factor (screen on top, keypad at the bottom)

I guess it's a rehash of the old Motorola A series that were sold in China long time ago... Cool to see one running Android though decidedly this is low-end phone these days..

The motorola a1200 was sold here in argentina a long time ago, and in fact it did pretty well on sales.

As I mentioned before, too bad they decided to go with that format instead of the V3 form. ... imagine a android flip phone as thin and sleek as the V3 (the closest we got to that was the V9X); however, times have changed and it's unlikely to see that

Yep, looks like an updated MOTOMING, which was based on a variant of Linux wasn't it?

And then Android is basically Linux. Well it uses a Linux kernel.

    It's all good (^_^)
