anandtech has an article on the changes in ICS that make the UI smoother....but I though Samsung made it all good in the SGS2...

either way it never bothered me on android...I only cared about device responsiveness lag in which I have to deal with on my iPhone 4.

Personally, I think that a combination of many years of 'putting up with AT&T' on the iPhone. Many had poor coverage, many dealt with at&t and its Seth the blogger guy excuses, and even their caps on unlimited plans. Verizon has its EVDO almost everywwhere, while AT&T still has a significant amount of 2g.
    AT&T... your world, throttled.

Verizon doesn't have EV-DO where I want it or need it. That's a big problem for me. AT&T works everywhere I do want and need it and I am covered with HSPA and fast speeds, faster than I ever had when I was on Verizon.
Q: Would you patronize a streetwalker?

A: No, I would treat her as an equal.

Yeah my iPhone 4 lags at times as well with iOs5. I don't think any operating system can fix that, being that it is a hardware limitation.

Regardless, I still find the iOS platform far more....fluid than Android, even on ICS 4.0.4. It is one of the trade-offs, I suppose. I love being able to customize every last detail about my phone, but the occasional jaggedness and stuttering really makes me mad. It always happens as I am trying to move though the system fast to call someone quickly or re-route the Google Nav before the next exit.

That was my attitude on my Bionic so I kept LTE turned off; but it may depend on the coverage. Today for kicks I turned on LTE and page loads were nearly instantaneous. So I tried speed test to verify. 19/11/72. Tempting to leave it on but I move too much.

By the time the VeriPhone came out, 4G LTE was right around the corner for NYC and SF, the two main markets where AT&T has never ending problems. Most of the iPhone sales were smartphone upgrades from current customers on family plans.
I usually support government regulation, but It is unfortunate that the government over-regulated and killed the AT&T/ T-Mobile Merger
The best explanation of the pricing nutiness in the industry.
Why Sprint and T-Mo will always suck.
The only way to end the pricing insanity is to eliminate contracts and subsidies.
I want Wifi calling on AT&T.
If you text while driving, you're an idiot. End of story.

Actually, Verizon already had LTE in NYC and 38 other markets commercially available when VeriPhone came out, February 2011.

I'm not saying VZW doesn't load instantly compared to my AT&T 4S. What I'm saying is for me it's not significant enough. Yes on my VZW Nexus pages load instant, my AT&T 4S takes a second or so longer. Not significant in my mind. Now if my AT&T 4S took like 5-10 seconds longer then maybe it would be significant for me.

Believe me Feb/March of last year I was ready to ditch AT&T because data was horrible in Philly. An AT&T tech told me to hold off because AT&T is making a lot of changes in the next year. The tech was right. I'm glad I stayed I have a great family 700 minutes family plan with aList, unltd data/ each line, mobile to any mobile and FREE unltd family text. With aList and Google Voice Connect app we literally have unltd calling. My bill is $180/month with taxes with my discount. VZW would cost $40'ish more/month but don't have mobile to any mobile which is huge. At the time last year when I was going to ditch AT&T I didn't care.

I would say AT&T and VZW are almost equal now where I'm located. However my wife much much prefers AT&T voice.

There were no smartphones out to use it. It was only available for the USB sticks and Mifis. But we knew it was coming to the masses in a matter of a couple months.

That was a good phone, forget about texting or GPRS data though...
AT&T's version does not have awful battery life, it even gets better batt life than the international version.....

They didn't like the battery life. The vast majority of Android phones, with the notable exception of the DROID RAZR MAXX, and the hideous Gnote, won't make it through the day like an iPhone will.

But that is the trade off, and that is the reason there are other phones besides the iPhone.

You buy what you want. If you want LTE, the iPhone is not an option. You will pay for it in battery life, but the option is there. The iPhone is the last to jump on to literally everything, from LTE to 3G to MMS to cloud technology. Other platforms allow people to use these things today, and to a lot of people, it is worth it.
