I'm about to move my account (and my wife's) from a T-Mobile family plan to Page Plus. We'll probably each be using the 12 plan. Our current phones are very old and battered (and weren't too good to start with) so we'll need new ones. The Page Plus web site offers only three Kyocera phones, none of which look very good, judging from what I read about them online. We don't need smart phones for the puny 10MB of data, and I wonder what people would recommend for an old-school feature phone that will work with Page Plus. Priorities are:
• Reception
• Call quality
* Ease of texting
A not-horrible camera would be a definite plus, though it isn't strictly necessary.

Okeh ....
1. Good.
2. I've heard that too. New phones for P+ are thin on the ground.
3. For reception, I'd avoid Samsung and Nokia. My Samsungs have been "deaf" and corporate Nokia has an issue with CDMA intellectual property therefore CDMA Nokias are rare and poor performers.
My own choice has been LG, especially the VX3300 and VX5400 (with camera). There are inexpensive and Verizon has never sold them as pre-paids. I also like the Motorola V3m ... but it's more expensive and Verizon *has* sold them as prepaid ... meaning you have to check them out carefully for activation.

Another noob here... also thinking of PP. Can I buy a Verizon smartphone, and only use it on wifi, also using just the $10 per 120 day card just for calling? If you activate a voice only card, is data automatically off? (no chance of getting data charges). I really just want a good quality, good reception phone for "emergency" talking (maybe 25 minutes per month), but would like to use smartphone features on wifi.
Tcat, that sounds just like what I (and many others) do. I never use any mobile data, and I also use a voip app when I have wifi, so I don't use many minutes, either. Mobile data will not automatically be turned off, but you can disable it in most smartphones, or you can call CS to have it turned off.
Great, got any good suggestions for a phone with best reception (I'm in a 1 bar zone with VM/Sprint)? I'm not positive that I'll go the smartphone route (bigger screen) or dumb-phone and keep my Galaxy Player for wifi and Voip. I have an Optimus-V, but can't stand the screen size and seldom use it. $10 every 120 days seems like a great deal!
If you're concerned about reception, you might need to go the dumbphone route. There are lots of cheap phones out there with much better reception than any smartphone. As for smartphones, I can only say that I've been really happy with my Droid X. There are so many options it's really best to choose the phone you like then see how much it would take to get it on PPC.
Thanks, FJ. I checked out the VX5400 and it looks like a nice little phone. I've ordered two of them from ebay. When they arrive, can I just call Page Plus and sign up and activate things over the phone? Anything I need to be aware of?

1. I'm glad you like it!
2. Good.
3. You can. I've looked for promotions and got my activations for free. (The last one came active on P+ ; I just asked customer service for a nearby area code.) If you bought from a P+ dealer on eBay, you could have asked for a free activation.
The only further point ... I think setting up the P+ online management is a good idea.
