    Galaxy Nexus for $400

I just read on Engadget today that Google is selling the Galaxy Nexus directly to consumers unlocked for $400. I don't mean for this to sound like an ad, just thought I'd post it up for people with all the 'should I buy' threads.

I can't post the link because I'm at work and it always blocks engadget. I remember the story said ATT and Tmobile would be supported and Google wasn't making the same mistake as they did with the original Nexus and will be providing actual support for the device. Obviously this is a great deal on a brand new super phone that can easily be used with the 45 byop plan.

I saw that too! Pretty sweet.

It's a lot of phone for $399. I won't be able to switch to ST until this fall, but when I do, it'll be on my list. Of course by then the lower price on the Galaxy Nexus will hopefully have driven down prices on other phones as well and I'll have a ton of lower-cost choices available.

Its about the same price as you can get from amazon. Don't forget you pay tax in the 400, but it's a good phone for the price to use on ST.

Nice; should have been available directly through Google from the beginning though.

Phone does have a few drawbacks:

    - very slippery glossy plastic body (also feels very cheap for a high-end phone)
    - obnoxiously low speaker volume (can be corrected by purchasing Volume+)
    - no SD card slot
    - Android 4.0.4 has a sleep bug that drops signal and misses calls/texts; poor communication from Google regarding a fix
Samsung Galaxy Nexus: 4.2.2 rooted with ST AT&T SIM & full Google Voice integration

Would one still get OTA updates on this phone if they used it with ST? If not, how does one update it?

Yup, its sent from google directly. The nexus has been out for about 5-6 months now so there are some android phones that have a lot better hardware (HTC One series for example) so you might want to weigh those into your decision before you rush out and buy the phone. It does have some short comings

not everyone had that 4.04 bug either. no problems here before or after updates. But direct Google updates is neat, and the developer community on the nexus is great. I am jealous that I paid $450 just a few weeks ago and have no warranty, while the Google version for about the same after taxes does.

The no microsd stuff isn't as big a deal as I thought it would be.. you deal with that. The volume IS a pain for sure. The rest, the understated style and feel of the phone is a plus IMO. I currently use this on Tmobile but one of the reasons I splurged is the pentaband support so I can go AT&T or Tmobile and get their HSPA service on either.

There are definitely better phones at least spec wise but you won't get them for $399 new w/o contract... so value wise its still a good choice, but buyers remorse is harsh because prices on anything except iPhones suck (and iPhones are just propped up by iSheep selling to other iDiots on Craigslist lol)
Go GSM! Switch phones on demand.
