I'm sick of downloading only 150 mb/hr on an already dismally slow network. then get throttled down to 40kbps???
are there any plans to raise the cap or am I gonna have to jump ship.
I was a big supporter of Mobi, but dammit, you guys are shooting yourselves in the foot.
don't punish the people who got in on the ground floor.
how about a $5/month add on to uncap full speed all the time? Wind has a similar option
"Studies show that 60% of the time, it works every time."
Wind $29/Month UNLIMITED EVERYTHING BTS plan
Where did you pull those numbers from?
The rate throttle kicks in if you exceed 100MB in 15 min, then you're limited to ~128kb/s for 2 hrs, which allows for undemanding browsing, or a quality audio stream.
I tested it while tethered a few weeks ago, reached 220MB before it kicked in at a little over 15min. The next day I set my wget bandwidth limit to 100KB/s and downloaded a Linux Mint ISO of 1.1GB without interruption or triggering the rate throttle.
Network d/l speed is limited to 2MB/s, not what I'd call dismal. Upload for me is reliably 7-800+ KB/s, WIND's u/l is throttled severely.
In the AWS/cellular context, TAFL is Industry Canada's list of all base stations in operation, as submitted by the spectrum licensee the month prior.
The underlying database is Industry Canada's Assignment and Licensing System (ALS)
A subset of the ALS is published monthly as the Technical and Administrative Frequency Lists (TAFL)
Real-time access to the AWS/cellular data of ALS is provided by Spectrum Direct's (SD) Geographical Area Search
I tested today. Tried to dl a 500 mb rom. Speed dropped to 40kbps. Granted Mobi never specified how fast unlimited data would be, imposing a limit afrer a certain point is straight out lying. Any condition or exclusion is a contadiction to "unlimited"
If you buy a car so you could go anywhere as fast as you wanted then have someone put a speedlimiter on it a few months later, You'd be pissed too.

Instead there should be something like. If you are downloading a 500MB rom. The system should dl it at the rate of 100/15mins so in 75 mins or so you will be able to enjoy your half GB ROM. ^_^
I wonder if we could limit ourselves on our phones like that?
Line 1: MMo45 for $30/M
Line 2: Wish40 for $35/M
Line 3: Wish40 for $35/M
Line 4: Wish40 for $35/M
When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.
You'd hope there's something out there for Android... I wasn't aware of the Windows utility, thanks Helloo. So, if you're tethered, you have the ability to limit your own download rate and avoid the 100MB/15min throttle on both Windows and Linux.
You can download more than 100MB if you do it in less than 15 min, I managed 220MB when I tested.
I don't normally download that's much either, but its sure irritating when you get slowed down

You get what you pay for, there's no such thing as "unlimited". Which is why I switched companies because data was important to me. Wind Mobile throttles your connection a usage of 5-6 GB but at least, it's fast until then.
That wasn't my experience. At first, it was great, I could view youtube videos with no problem. But then, it started to buffer a lot more than usual. What I don't like about this system is that they don't advertise the throttling, leaving us to find out about here in this forum.
