Torch 9800 came unlocked from MTS

Don't know if this was mentioned before or not. I went to unlock a BB Torch 9800 from MTS which is on subsidy three year contract. Ordered the code and when I went to unlock it, I found it to be already unlocked lol. Lesson learned checked first it might already be unlocked.

Yep, the 9800 torch was fully unlocked from MTS. That is what I got originally before selling and getting an unlocked S2 Galaxy.

Maybe a stupid question, but I have a 9800 from MTS as well. How can i check if it's unlocked or not?

My girlfriend's 9800 Torch from MTS is unlocked as well. She got it a couple of days after the HSPA network went live, dunno if they started locking them later.

Get a Rogers or Telus sim and put it in your phone, or any other sim that is not MTS and look at the message that is displayed once it boots up.

Or pull up the Sim Options and type MEPD. All status' should show 'Inactive' or 'Disabled' if it's unlocked.
