The word 'Pentaband' means '5 Bands', from the Greek word 'pente' meaning '5'. For a phone to be pentaband it has to support 5 bands. If the phone has AWS support, it doesn't automatically mean that it is pentaband. The reason Wind and Mobilicity users like pentaband phones is because the reverse is true. We're not the only ones who like pentaband phones though, so please stop referring to phones that work on Wind and Mobilicity as pentaband. It causes unnecessary cofusion.
Everyone be nice to him/her. Its just like when people say they don't like a car they have never driven, don't like a food they have never tried, don't like someone they have never met, don't like a city then have never visited, etc... Its a 110% valid reason to hold such an opinion.
*sigh*
to know opinions about WP, how it's doing in the polls, what other people think of WP (or in this case, the lack of), and the technical drawbacks i DON'T NEED TO HAVE USED ONE. ffs!
how difficult is that to understand???
the poor sales and the fact that nobody ever goes into a shop and asks for a WP despite it being an ultra well known brand says it all
Gee, y'all are fighting over the opinion of someone who is satisfied with what he has. There is nothing wrong with being satisfied; change is certainly not required or even desirable.
Y'all are simply arguing that because something is new and endorsed by Woz and you use it, everyone else should, too. And if they disagree, they are nuts and trolling.
Comments: Microsoft is fighting primarily over future smartphone users--who currently do not own one. They are not competing for Android or Apple users. This would not apply to virtually anyone on HoFo.
Secondly, re: social hub functions. I believe this was the intent of Motorola Blur best exemplified but poorly executed by Cliq on Tmo in 2009. It appears Windows is copying and improving that.
Thirdly, what were the dates of Woz's tenure since Apple's success is recent, ie what part did he play in it?
You actually have it backwards. This is the Windows Phone forum, remember? If he's satisfied with what he has, then that's absolutely fine. No one is telling him that he needs to ditch his beloved Spamdroid operating system for Windows Phone. The fact of the matter is, GeminiIII is one of those retarded Spamdroid fanboys who thinks he can go into any Windows Phone thread and talk crap about Windows Phone and Microsoft. He expects people who have chosen and are actually satisfied using Windows Phones to listen to his every word and switch to Spamdroid. In reality we do not give a damn about what he says or thinks, so we're just calling him out on his stupidity. If he just disappeared or if he just stayed in the Spamdroid forum or got banned, this would be a much happier Windows Phone forum. The Windows Phone forum at XDA Devs was the same crap. All the Spamdroid fanboys thought they could go in there and talk crap about Windows Phone and it got completely out of hand until the mods started banning them. Just stay in your Spamdroid forums and leave Windows Phone users alone!
I am an Android user who is not all that fond of MS, but still has a (slightly) open mind, and who knows almost nothing about WP.
Things that I can imagine would entice me to look deeper:
1) Does it have a useful free version of MS Office pre-installed? What about Win MP? Those apps represent two of Android's greatest weaknesses.
2) Can you root a WP and gain full control of the OS as is possible with Android? How about unlocked bootloaders? If so, is there an active developer community?
3) What about hardware?
Can I get a WP with a larger than 4.5" display? Removable battery with extended available? Full SD support? Full 5-row QWERTY keyboard? 8mp+ camera?
4) Are there there still any WP models available without PLAN chips?
5) When is WP8 due?
6) However poorly stocked, does a WP 'app store' now exist?
I am not trolling. I genuinely do not know the answers to these questions.

1. MS Office is the "full version" unlike the trials PCs come with these days. Win MP means Media Player, I assume? It has Zune which is quite good (I was reticent when I first started using it).
2. As of right now, rooting is doable on "Gen 1" Samsung devices only (phones which shipped with 7.0). There are a few really good hackers over on XDA. It's just that MS locked down the bootloaders on the "Gen 1.5" devices and people haven't been able to get around that...yet.
3. The HTC Titan II would be the one you're looking for, albeit without SD support nor a removable battery. 16MP camera, arguably one of the best on the market. WP's virtual keyboard is 4 row.
4. Don't know what those are.
5. Presumably fall of this year. No one knows for sure. All signs point to it being worth the wait
6. The Marketplace has existed since the beginning of WP. It's up to 80k (quality) apps now.

Thanks!
Full Office is big! That plus (must have) SD support and VLC might have turned me. Really want a physical 5-row QWERTY like the D3 & D4.
Here's the story on PLAN chips implanted, per the US government, in all new cellphones starting now:

I have a DX so mine installed itself early -- without my OK.
What I just can't get around are the read & modify SMS & MMS permissions. When my government.publicly assumes the ability -- right or not -- to read my mail, then it's no longer 'American' to my way of thinking.
