Ridiculous Lag on LG Optimus Slider

I just bought an LG Optimus slider about a week ago now, and it's been good. But recently it will lag and grind almost to a halt. I have to draw my pattern ridiculously slowly and get it to unlock, and then I have to either wait it out (takes up to 2 minutes) or go into my task killer. Sometimes it kills whatever it is causing the problem, and others I have to reboot the phone by pulling the battery. It's happening more and more and I'm to my breaking point already. A brand new phone should not be acting like this. I'm thinking it's Facebook because every time it happens, I notice it in the list of tasks running on the task killer. I just went on facebook and changed some update settings (4 hours for refresh interval etc.) and hopefully that solves it. I did a search and didn't seem to find anyone else with problems like this so I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed this happening.
Current Phone: Apple iPhone 4S (Black)
Virgin Mobile - HTC EVO V 4G (POS, gone after 3 months!)
Virgin Mobile - LG Optimus Slider
Virgin Mobile - LG Rumor Touch
Tracfone- Moto W376G (Washing machine killed it)

I only have this issue when my power-saving utility throttles my processor to save battery and it's nowhere near as ridiculous as it was on my Intercept. Perhaps you have so many apps installed there isn't enough free memory? Move some to the SD card and try to free up at least 25 MB.

I only have about 8 apps added, and I have every app that can be placed on the SD on it. I wish I could get rid of the bloatware apps! I tried rooting but for whatever reason one of the drivers won't install on my computer (LG Android Driver) and the root won't go through.

I would do a factory reset, then reinstall your apps one at a time with some testing time in between. It sounds to me like a problem app.

If it is still acting up, it might be worth a return, if you can.

Number of apps is not as important as their footprint. Are you sure they're not big apps or apps that are constantly running in the background? How much free memory do you have?

Use the LG Esteem USB drivers to root the slider, that worked well for me. I personally would stay away from task killers, battery savers, etc, and let Android do it's job of managing things.

And the Facebook app does suck, I would either use FriendCaster or just use Facebook through the phones web browser.

I turned off the symbol that looks like a refresh button on the wifi and screen brightness bar thing, and it hasn't happened since. What does that button do?

Which eight apps? Go SMS was slaughtering my processor until I uninstalled it and ran in the other direction.

I think it might be Draw Something. I got a notification from it last night and clicked on it and my phone ran like molasses for about 5 minutes while I was playing. That's the only time it's done it since I factory reset it a few days ago.

    The apps I have are:
    Draw Free
    Foursquare
    Instagram
    Opera Mini
    Scramble Free
