This looks interesting. Canadian company, Roam Mobility, offers plans for Canadian travellers to the US. They launched something called the SIM Swap Program, where you can send in a US prepaid SIM card and receive one of their SIM cards for free.

According to the web page, they think they're better than a US prepaid SIM for these reasons:
- Unlimited talk and text for $3 per day
- Unlimited calls to any US or Canadian number
- Data from 6 cents per MB
- Free voicemail and caller ID
- Pay-as-you-go service
- No contracts, minimums or overages
- Toll-free customer care
- Keep your US number for a year
Has anybody here used Roam Mobility before? I have a T-Mobile SIM card that I used in Las Vegas last year. Thinking of sending it in.
Won't work in Montana
Noted. I'm not planning a trip to Montana any time soon but you never know![]()
I have a few T-Mobile sims sitting around, I'm gonna send one in.
To me, it appears it's only cheaper to use Roam if you don't use data. since I do use data, I won't use the Sim myself, but for someone like my mom, it seems worthwhile.

This seems like a good deal. I was going to switch from ATT to T-Mobile anyway. I'll give it a try. Thanks for posting!
I'm Canadian. I travel often to the US, usually one to two weeks per month (most months of the year). I've been using the ATT GoPhone service with an unlocked iPhone for several years - until last month when they decided to shut iPhone users out of data service. On my most recent trip earlier this month, I manage to convince them to turn my data on for the remainder of my trip (because I had lots of rollover data left).
I was on the $2/day plan and I was buying blocks of data on an automatic purchase plan. That worked for me and I wasn't paying much for service and it was fairly reliable.
Thanks for that info, I'll check out Simple and ST also.
Okay, just making sure. I couldn't tell if you were Canadian or American.
I'd look specifically at T-Mobile pay by the day, then, if I were you! You'd only get edge speeds, but they're better than nothing.

Thanks, yes, I am considering T-Mobile pay by the day. However, I managed to get my iPhone working again with ATT GoPhone so I'll use that again until it's not convenient.
On a different note for the folks considering Roam. I just received my SIM card. I checked their rates but they aren't very competitive - IMHO (no rollover data and pricey). Although I think their main offering is unlimited calls and text to Canada - if that's all you require, then it's good value.
