The $50 plan is the best Att mvno one in that price class beating out Air Voice's $60 version.Idk about the $60 plan if it is 4g for the first 500 megs only. Does it count 3g for the other 1.5 gigs as usable or not? Red Pocket should be 4g/hspa plus on both gigs it offers, Idk what the details with H2o's $60 plan is , we'll see...
They still need to fix customer care though. It's still a mess. Basics first.
Better off with straight Talk 45 for 2GB. Supposed to be unlimited but they cut you off.

"Unlimited data". Not in this brave new world unless it's throttled, capped or 2g or 3g only. No 4g unlimited. No way. Not for phones (Clear offers 4g wimax unlimited for broadband prepaid only). The only exceptions are Boost cdma (limited byod on older Sprint phones) and Verizon prepaid smartphone/feature phone plans. Att Gophone offers unlimited too but only to feature phones (meh).
it really is a shame that h2o likes to shut off texting because that 50 dollar plan looks promising. im just real hesistant to come back after my last experience
It's now live. https://www.h2owirelessnow.com/pageC...php?page=plans
Apparently, the 2gb plan is at "full 4x speeds" for the first 500 megs. 3G for the other gig and a half I guess.
I'd rather put an Hspa+ device on RP and get full speed for both gigs at the same price.
The $50 plan ? Well, I hope it puts pressure on Air Voice to try and up their meager half gig on their $60 plan upwards a bit.
Air Voice is the little mvno that's trying but probably doesn't have the numbers to leverage a better deal from Att like H20 does.
I'd rather give my money to them or Red Pocket then H20.
Anybody knows if there's still no international texting on H2O minute plan? I'm considering H2O and Airvoice for my (possibly temporary) GoPhone replacement.
AirVoice $10 monthly plan clearly mentions that international text will be charged at 20c/txt rate instead of the regular 2c/txt rate, but no mention about this on H2O minute plan.
I am curious enough that I just went to H2O website and hit on the chat button.
The support person told me that for the minute plan: international text message costs $0.15 (both incoming and outgoing)
So it's only a little bit better than AirVoice rate of $0.20
If there's anyone that can confirm this it would be great. All my search of this topic here resulted in posts saying that there's no international texting for H2O minute plan, but the last one was from months ago.
If you want international texting and a good rate, go Simple Mobile or Att Gophone unlimited talk/text $2 a day plan. They both have unlimited international text. Simple has more countries. Att has more variety of plans.
Good rate isn't as important to me as the ability to text internationally (as I said above, all results in the forum before this are saying that you can't do international text with H2O minute plan), and reliability (I've tried international texting with GoPhone and delivery rate to this particular carrier overseas is only about 50%, i.e. half of what I sent or should have received just never arrived). It's just hard to communicate when you can't really tell whether what you sent was delivered/was read and ignored/was replied to but the reply just never delivered). Note that I don't blame AT&T 100% for this as the major cause of these delivery problems I believe is on the other side. Somehow they just don't work well with AT&T.
So far the best experience regarding international text delivery for me (again, to this particular carrier overseas) is with Platinumtel. Great rate and so far pretty much 100% delivery rate without any complain (about a year now). The thing is now I wanted to go back to GSM and would like to carry just one device, so I'm looking around for the alternative.
I just successfully texted internationally to Priority Pass/UK (an international airport lounge service) and got a response. Fifteen cents outbound for an international text and a nickel inbound for the response. Sending a text message to +447624809977 with a 3 letter airport code in the body of the message (leave subject line blank) elicits an automated response with the list of affiliated clubs in that airport. YMMV...
I'm on the Minute Plan. Service is on an O2 card purchased from Best Buy that is now on the H20 minute plan(same Locus owner). Originally for my mom but they increased the minimum amount monthly which is a problem because it's just an emergency phone for her(originally was 14 cents a minute with 90 day expiry). Got her a nice LG phone and put that on PagePlus $10/120 day expiration. Adopted the O2 sim chip for myself because the nickel a minute or text for domestic calls is cheaper than my current Jolt sim chip (using up those minutes). Dropped in a $100/1 year H2O card so I don't have to worry about refills for a year.
