Should I Stay Or Should I Go ?

    I'm on VM's 25 dollar plan with Optimus v (great phone,but I'm ready for a better phone). I don't care
    for Triumph.
Now VM bringing us 4G & better phones, but at a cost increase for me.( Sprint/VM 4G doesn't work in
    my area !!!)

T-Mobile has 3g where I live and 4G where I work.(But I don't care for there selection of phones on prepaid)
At 30 dollars a month (unlimited data/text & 100 minutes), that is fine for me.

Still undecided , should I stay or should I go now !

That is way too much a personal decision that you have to make based on what works for you.
Is 10.00 a month extra (actually 5.00 when you factor in T-Mobile) a deal breaker?

If it helps, you can buy any T-Mobile phone you want to use it on their prepaid service.

Keep in mind that with t-mobile you can use any phone compatible with their network. Lots of selection. If you are willing to pay for it, there are some nice high end phones available with AWS 3G.

For example, I am using a T-mobile G2 on the $30/month 5GB plan. Not the latest phone, but it meets my needs very well with its excellent keyboard. Not expensive at all used.

Agreed. there are some really cheap highend phones on craigslist if you look carefully. I see G2's for $100 pretty often and MyTouch 4G's for 150.

If you want to upgrade your VM phone from the Optimus, but don't want a Triumph, that doesn't give you too many attractive options for staying with VM.

If you can get by on 100 minutes per month, I'd say buying a T-Mo compatible phone and switching to the $30 plan is your best course of action. On the other hand, I've had a Triumph for nearly 10 months and despite all the complaints you might've read, I think it is a real step up from the Optimus -- which I also had for six months. You can get a Triumph pretty cheap now and could retain your $25/month grandfathered plan indefinitely.

Personally, I need at least 250 minutes per month, so T-Mobile's plan wouldn't work for me at all. However, T-Mo's data is better from what I've been told, so if 100 minutes is enough then you should make a move.

FWIW I typically see about 1-6Mbps with T-Mobile. With VM the range was more like 100Kbps-1Mbps, and more often than not at the low end of that range. Plus the G2 is so much better than the Optimus Slider it replaced. As you can probably tell, I am very happy I switched.

VM's data issues are unfortunate. That said, if you're not a heavy user of data and still need to make calls somewhat regularly, the old $25 BT plan is the undisputed best value in pre-paid Android service. Nothing in the future will come close as most pre-paid brands are moving towards higher-priced packages with unlimited voice minutes.

I'm sure T-Mo's $30 plan can work well for some folks, but even a light talker like myself would be hard-pressed to make 100 minutes last an entire month.

I am almost certain I'm leaving for TM. I was willing to put up with the slow speeds and occasional network issues for $25/mth but phone selection and now breaking grandfathering was the straw that broke the camels back. I've been wanting to switch to TM since they announced the $30 5gb/100min plan and now seems like the ideal time to switch.

I won't like paying $60 more a year but think it will be worth it for the speed and phone selections. Read this recent article on network speeds, sprint is greatly falling behind. http://www.pcworld.com/article/25380...e_fastest.html

If you are interested in leaving I have two phone recommendations:

The Exhibit II at walmart $200. a decent 4g phone that comes ready with sim card for activation.

If your looking for something with a bit more of a punch and have the money I recommend the Galaxy Nexus $400 from google play. A high end phone like this could go for $800 but thanks to google shaking up the market they are offering it directly.

The GNex will work on both tmobile and att giving you options in the future. Right now tmobile has sim cards on sale for $1 with free shipping, I ordered one in case I go this route you may want to do the same.

I would say wait for now, if you can put up with the Optimus V for another few months. See what the new price system is, and then make the change. After all, we should probabely know by the end of June.

came out.(didn't like keyboard- makes phone too thick)
I'll wait for now & research phones for thin size & bigger sceen

Have you checked the coverage maps for T-Mobile? For me, it's not an option, because of coverage. I was a T-Mobile customer for 7 days, just long enough to determine that the only places on my lot that I could get a signal were outside of the walls of my house! I checked during that week and sure enough, the coverage maps of my neighborhood were spotty.

Ya, T-Mobile coverage couldn't suck enough for me. Perfect in the cities, iffy in the suburbs and terrible everywhere else.

Not to mention plenty of EDGE and GPRS to go around too.

I'd agree to wait and see exactly how things shake out with VM in the next couple months. We don't know the details of how the plans will be restructured.

I'm probably going to wait until my Optimus V dies. Hard to give up paying $22-23 a month.

We know exactly what it will be.

Newly offered devices going forward will be subjected to Virgin Mobiles current plan pricing.
