I can see how unlocking a face could be very difficult.

I thought it be fun interesting the problem is I find 1/2 the time it does not work.
Great in concept but because I use my phone in different light conditions it does not work well.
Has anybody had great success with Face Unlock?

It's a rather gimmicky feature, in my opinion. I've been able to unlock a phone with a picture of their face on a phone. It's a neat sales tool, but rather impractical in it's current form.
gimmicky but better than no security at all.
Pattern unlock with greasy hands isn't more secure...

I haven't had a chance to try out Android's implementation of Face Unlock yet, but as mentioned, you can easily bypass it with a photo.
A friend has a laptop that uses facial recognition to unlock the computer. Does not work well at all, as I was able to simply let it scan my face, and it thought I was my friend.
Yep... got a laptop with it and I am going to get rid of face unlock on the laptop too.
Who cares.... I do not walk around with a picture of myself.
I like to look at the phone have the thing unlock but half the time it does not know my face.
Security .... bah....
Somebody steals my phone or I lose it, it has happened before just get a new phone.
Once the new SIM is activated nobody can make calls or use my data.
So for me minimal security is ok, I rather minimal security than no security.
But I hate the hassle of entering a PIN every time I wake the phone.
I think it's more for novelty than practicality at this point anyway.
Security? Come on, when you enable Face Unlock there's a warning that pops up saying it's an experimental feature and not meant to be secure, so the complaints that it's not secure are misplaced, as it's not (not yet anyway) meant as a security feature, but a screen unlocking feature.
I suspect that within a few years, Android phones will have a fingerprint unlock option. It will be way more practical and safer than the face unlock feature, that I'm personally not a fan of.

The original Motorola Atrix had this feature and it went over about as well as the face-unlock feature has. If they can figure out how to use the screen to read a fingerprint, I could see that working out. The way Motorola implemented it was impractical for daily use, although it was probably more secure than current face-unlocking technology.
Yeah, that's what I meant. I know that the can do this now, but not with the LCD display, but in a few years... Also, the whole fingerprint recognizing process shouldn't be more than a few seconds long, otherwise most users will find it more annoying than useful.
