I'm not sure why I wouldn't go with Unleashed which is $5 cheaper. Would it not allow using an Incredible 2 or Nexus? Some other limitation?
Many people fail to realize that paying for a phone upfront while saving on the monthly charges is less expensive in the long run. For some reason logic and math skills are lost on them. Well, it's their loss and our gain.
Yeah and they're not looking at the bigger picture. It all depends on what phone you want. If you want a smartphone of course you are going to pay more than 30 dollars. But a regular dumb phone can be purchased for 30 dollars or less. I don't see what the deal breaker is??? Even if you want a smartphone, save up your money like everyone else and get one. Put it on pageplus and you're done. If you go to verizon you're going to wind up paying close to 200 dollars anyways for a smartphone(well the newer ones at least). Plus you have to be locked into a two year contract and you have to add a 30 dollar data plan. In the event that you lose your job or just won't be able to pay over 100 dollars for service and your contract is not over, you have to pay an ETF of 350(given that you have a smartphone, otherwise it's 175).
With page plus all you have to do is purchase your phone(whatever it may be, dumb phone or smartphone/used or new) from ebay, craigslist, amazon, cowboom etc..... and set it up with Pageplus. And if PP is not working for you, find another prepaid provider. At least when you leave you won't have to worry about paying 350 dollars.
My husband lost his job in May of 2010 and that's what prompted me to look into prepaid. We had four phones on VZW with unlimited text and no data for about $140/month. By the time our contract was up, he had found a job but I still couldn't justify the extra money. I put my two kids on Virgin Mobile and my husband and I moved to Page Plus. He has a work phone but we keep his old phone active to keep the number and use if anyone misplaces their phone. I have since moved to the $30 T-Mobile plan and our monthly bill is $83 which includes three smart phones with unlimited data and texting along with over 700 minutes. I can't even imagine what our bill would be on VZW for that configuration.
It probably would be close to 300 dollars or more!!!! That's too much money to be shelling out, especially in this economy. I love prepaid and I don't see myself switching back to postpaid ever again. If PP doesn't work out I will go to T-mobile for their $30 plan. I was actually looking into T-mobile. I get more service with T-mobile where I live than Verizon(Page Plus). If I want to call someone from my cell now, I have to go out on my porch as I have no service in my house. It was different with T-mobile. And their 30 plan does interest me. I just don't want to pay the steep price for their phone. I will continue to check ebay though.
It was in perfect condition except for one little spot on a corner of the screen. It's worked fine since I got it in November. I try to buy from a person selling their personal phone unless I'm buying new. Just be patient and you will find something.
As an aside, the person I bought the phone from did not reset it to factory settings. I couldn't believe I had access to all their contacts and their gmail. I wiped it and was up and running.
I had that happen once too. I bought a phone and the persons contacts and everything was still in the phone when i got it. I always do a factory rest when I sell my phones, which is why I didn't sell my broken Samsung Fascinate. The screen broke and I couldn't do a reset. I was going to sell it on ebay(even had it listed) but I took it down because if it sold and the person fixed the screen all my information would have still been on there.
You're not going to believe this, but I got a replacement phone from ATT's (blue) office of the president office a long time ago. All the contacts were there, and so were some very dirty pics from an office Christmas party. One night I called a few numbers asking who was half naked at the party?
This was before those pic sharing sites went wild!
I wanted tmobile, but sadly it is terrible here. What cracks me up though is I have 3 cell towers by my house (Sprint, Verizon, and at&t). I had at&t, but with the last contract up left because even with the close tower I have nothing but problems and there are dead zones. Sprint and Verizon rule in this area. Metro pcs isn't good here either. Location, location, location.
Not unusual, I have bought phones and devices numerous times with personal information including photos still intact. I always reply to them with a warning for future sales to annihilate all their data before selling it.
Will Verizon ever put V-Cast TV on their smartphones?
