    Traveling with the Galaxy Nexus

    Hi everyone:

I had a question regarding the Galaxy Nexus. I'll be in Beijing for all of July and want to bring my Nexus. I'm wondering if it is, however, possible. I had renewed my Telus contract for another three years when I bought the Nexus. Because of this, my phone isn't unlocked(?) and able to use it with other carriers? Like would I be able to do a pay-as-you-go with a Chinese carrier and use their sim as long it's network compatible?

    Thanks in advance.

Hi... Sorry to hijack your thread
My question is " Is the Fido Galaxy Nexus network unlocked?" I'm getting conflicting answers.

And OP, yes your phone can be used in China, you can get it unlocked cheap cheap, then just get a chinese sim on arrival.
China Unicom and China Mobile are the two main carriers. Telus phone might be a hassle, since Telus uses CDMA I believe.

Google your questions.. best carrier for china sim

Telus now uses HSPA (and as of recently, LTE) and most phones to have come out after the end of 2009 have been HSPA.

Anyway. All Galaxy Nexus devices sold are unlocked.

Even specifically the Telus Galaxy Nexus signed on a three-year contract?

Hey Vancitygl, maybe we can meet sometime and you can throw in my Thai sim card and see what happens.
I live in Surrey but spend a fair amount of time on the drive.
