I still haven't upgraded to Belle on my N8 b/c from initial readings there were still some bugs with it. Just wanted to see, since it's been about 2 months, how Belle has been for everyone. List of Pros and Cons that you have experienced would definitely help.![]()

- Lack of Notification widget is a con for me.
- Another is battery use is down for me (went from about 12 hours to 8).
- Bogs a bit here and there for me.
- Google maps glitch (wifi needs to be on for google maps to work on Belle for some reason)
it's been perfectly fine for me. the only problems i've been having lately are some memory errors. but that's because of the new fmobi with the widget. the widget is useless and even when you don't use it, it still causes the memory errors. i haven't gotten a chance to update it to the new 3.2 yet since i've been using the N9
I had to stop using my N8 because of the non functional email client, it was bad with Anna but with Belle it is not working, I have two Gmail accounts I need to check at least every 10-15 minutes and it is not working even in manual! Somebody has a solution for that? Meanwhile I am forced to use a Galaxy S2 from my office and I'm seriously thinking of not buying an N808 because of this.....![]()
UI and speed is far better than the N8. when I go back to the N8, it feels slow as hell (plus i keep trying to use the swipe UI on it lol). and that's with a fast Belle CFW. also the screen is so much better lol. cell quality, and music through headphones sounds better imo (then again, it could be that i'm playing flac files since the N9 supports it). stock browser is pretty fast. the email seems more competent than the one on the N8. at least so far i haven't had any problems with not getting my mail and stuff. multitasking is way better. i could open all the apps on my phone and then it will lag. but that's like 30 apps lol like you're ever going to have that many. and i like the fact that the stock browser, when you open up tabs, each page is it's own window (only can have 8 tabs though).
there are a lot of cons though, the maps isn't as great as the symbian version. also i really miss having widgets. i mean, technically i could just leave everything open all the time and just check that one, but having a widget would be better. battery life is less than the N8. at most i could only get like 2 days out of it. charging takes like 3 hours. video playing capabilities...are virtually nonexistent using the stock player. can't play anything at all. it's just not a media powerhouse like the N8 is. and the camera, it sucks lol. way better than ,WP7 but it just sucks. also, i really miss the Nokia Sleeping screen. all we get a clock that displays icons for messages and stuff.
even with all that, i would rather use the N9. it has some community support which is nice. and nitdroid is in alpha 3 already. i'll probably put that on my N9 once it goes to beta. i heard that even in the first alpha, it was very stable already. a lot of things are more intuitive, while other things are backwards. especially in the email. deleting emails takes forever because you can't mark and select. also, the OS is mostly portrait oriented. you can make it landscape through a mod, but i find that it lags the phone.
iono, i think i'd be more helpful if you had more specific questions for me to address lol for me personally, i'll most likely continue switching between the N8 (or the 808 when it comes out) and the N9. use the N8/808 for the camera and the other stuff i miss, and use the N9 as my main phone.
Belle has been great for me. I've been running a CFW version since last summer and have experienced no issues. The only con (and it is a big one) is the lack of a notification widget.
@sillieidiot
I'm using both my N9 and N8 as well and couldn't agree more with everything you said. Nokia could have really had something special if they just fused the GPU/DSP found in the N8 or 808 with the N9. Add in mSD slot and HDMI out and they could have had a phone that would have been second to none. My N9/8 combo constantly makes me think of would could have been if they just kept to their original product roadmap.
Thanks for that.
Btw, in what way are the maps applications worse? I used to use Garmin for Symbian because the Nokia maps were pretty slow and not that intuitive. I don't remember in which version suddenly the maps became pretty good and with the latest versions I think they are great. Given that the 808 seems to be out pretty soon I might wait a little bit and get it instead depending on the import price. I am still very tempted. I also thought about getting the Galaxy Nexus since Google is selling a US warranty GSM version for 399 but then again I believe that AT&T will fish up those IMEIs like they did with the first Google phone and I will lose my 10 dollar data family plan. Wife and daughter already have the iPhone 4s and with it more expensive but worse data plan but I would rather put a bullet through my head than getting the iPhone.
I have a feeling the import 808 will be quite north of $600 when it comes out sadly.
i used to use garmin too, but the problem was that the routes were not as accurate as the nokia maps. but now, i think nokia maps are way better. but needs more POIs still
well i would say that the maps is like 90% of the current symbian version. the maps application itself seems to load slower than the N8, but Drive is way faster. before, i did not have the option to use English with street names, but after a month the voice pack came out. I think because of powersaving (which you can turn off) the GPS takes awhile to get a lock. On the symbian version, i get a lock nearly instantly (even while indoors). I haven't tried turning it off though to test. PR 1.2 did add a lot of things from Symbian that were missing. I'm pretty sure it's up to date now, except for the last couple of latest releases for the Symbian platform
Another thing that I really miss on the N8 is the nokia maps suite. Those apps are handy, especially the places app.
also, you can't delete maps that you have downloaded. at least i haven't found an option to do so
I would really like to know about how good is Belle on the E6. Is it worth really giving it a try? Is the battery life good as Anna?
