The Stratosphere came to vzw long after the Epic was old news elsewhere.

Weekly schedule would be very nice! Yes if the Journal came out soon, that would be good, but not by the fall.
The Journal rumor wasn't fabricated, but not sure of it's source. I don't think we would know what the Journal really is compared to the Note until it hits. There is a decent chance it's never been the exact same device specwise. Just the fact it has to be a CDMA/LTE device and that wasn't probably planned as a derivative in initial development(GSM/LTE is more straight forward) since this was an invented segment that had been 100% untested. By the time it was discovered to be a very popular device VZW wanted and they started looking into a version of their own they may have caught Samsung by surprise with the request while someone like AT&T had already tried a similar device in the Dell Streak and was probably interested from the get go as that device was on it's way out or gone.
Anyhow, all of this sorta timing stuff is probably the real reason VZW is so late with such a device. VZW would probably already be out with such a device if the Streak had been wildly popular like the Note, but it just wasn't. This timing could also mean component used will be a bit different as it may not have gone into development as a derivative until a timeframe that could give it access to SIII variety/gen components and such.
Either way I think it would sell well since VZW just doesn't have anything similar. But, don't be surprised if it's more of a Note2 or middle gen device specwise rather than just a CDMA derivative of the Note.
Maybe there will be more high end phones in the fall then we "sort of" know about?
Thought the Streak came out on Tmo. Samsung did a much better implementation, imo, thus the different results. Don't think the market changed.
Well there was a Streak 7 for T-Mo without voice. May have had the 5 also. AT&T also had it though.
Yeah, it failed purely because it was done more as a tablet than a phone at 5" rather than the other way around with small bezels and such one want on a phone with a screen that size. It was a monster compared to the Note even though it was reasonably thin.

Significant for us?
Well, it likely means it won't launch here before the 20th.
For my part, the PenTile display makes it iffy, so if the US LTE model doesn't have full media-oriented 64GB SD support, either, then I'm def not interested.

I will wait until later in the year, when I can get an upgrade
Anybody think there's a chance that this comes out at $199 instead of $299?
What leads you to speculate a lower release price for the SGSIII?

Why would this phone not come out at the top price?
