Samsung Galaxy S III Pre-Release Thread

Please use this thread for discussion of the Samsung Galaxy S III, which should be out for Verizon this summer. Keep in mind that Verizon & Samsung have not announced that (yet), but will most likely happen.

Fingers crossed for quad-core Exynos, but I'm afraid it will actually be the dual-core Qualcomm S4. The S4 is definitely no slouch, but it'd be nice to get the Exynos. Samsung seems to have a history of making great mobile processors (at least recently anyway).

Unlikely unless that quad core chipset works with our LTE. Probably an S4.

I would hold off pining for Exynos in VZW phones until they are A15 based. Krait is the way to go until A15 is an option! 2 cores is a plenty, particularly when they are next gen rather than end of lifecycle cores.

No clue? Doubtful unless VZW isn't to get this phone until pretty late. If it's pro dual core with the Adreno 320 or the quad core Krait with the same my guess is it would hit a bit later. It's probably late summer regardless cause of VZW testing. A fancier chip than what is already shipping in some phone would just further delay that farther. Basically if it has 320 it's probably a fall or winter product. Although a sprint phone with quadcore Krait and 320 has supposedly been leaked now. That may be a fall phone also though.

I would have more hope for an earlier launch if there weren't stories like AT&T canning their HD SII variant. If they were working closely and well with Samsung and Samsung was forward about next gen device such I can't see how such a device would have ever been planned in the first place.

Some HoFo regular matter-of-factly posted, in a D4 thread I believe, that vzw would pick up the GNote calling it the 'Journal', rather like the Epic to Stratosphere transition.

I picked up on that -- wishfully, I suppose -- and have repeated the rumor a number of times since, although I've seen nothing further about it.

I'd love to have either the GNote or the SGSIII, ditto a D4G MAXX HD ...

That makes little sense. Why get the Note after all of this time. Maybe a Galaxy Note 2? BGR spoke of an HTC "Note" rather than a Samsung one.
