Anyone Experiencing Heating Issues with The Htc One S?

Hi,

I've had the Htc One S phone for a week and have noticed that when my phone is being recharged it gets very warm. I spoke to a T-Mobile technical support specialist, who had me download "My Account" application to find out what the battery temperature is.

The battery temperature was close to 104 F and I was told that I should test the battery temperature (when recharging the phone) for the next few days and if it is 110 F and above, I should call up for a replacement phone.

I was wondering if anyone is experiencing similar issues (with the battery overheating) and would appreciate any feedback on this topic. Thanks!

I just bought this phone too. First smartphone. I manged to get the app you have and found where the battery checker is. I have been recharging it and using the phone intermittently for about an hour, battery went from 8% to 53%, temp is at 94 F according to the monitor

Hi,

Thanks to responding to my inquiry. I tested my phone while recharging it (I was also on the internet at the same time) and I noticed the battery temperature was 111.7 F. Perhaps this was because of recharging the phone and being on the internet at the same time, although I'm really not sure if this was the reason. Maybe it's time for me to contact T-Mobile tech support department.

That does seem kind of hot though. How do you like phone so far otherwise besides the heating issue?

Thanks for the link pertaining to the overheating problems experienced by one s users.

Aside from the heating issues, I love the aluminum unibody design of the phone (very sturdy), the screen is vibrant and a pleasure to look at (especially with my myopic vision), the weight of the phone is perfect (very light) and fairly easy to hold with one hand.

I have not tested the camera component so I can't comment on that aspect, although from the reviews I've read, the phone takes very good pictures.

My only reservation about the phone is that when i was on the internet for approximate three hours, the battery went from 100 % to 16 % and I was not happy about that, so perhaps that related to the overheating issues i am experiencing with this phone.

As this is my first android phone (previously had the htc hd7 phone), I am very impressed by the speed of the phone when using the internet, the wonderful apps available on this phone and the general aesthetics of the phone.

I experience overheating issue mostly when charging the phone and browsing the net or slacker.
I notice also when on a long phone call it gets very warm. Off topic, has anyone experienced the screen lock malfunctioning when the phone goes into sleep mode, while using the phone in landscape mode?

I have had this phone nearly a month ago and so far I have got 2 replacement phones because of the heating up issue. It easily reaches beyond 45C after a few minutes of browsing. I have talked to the sellers and the HTC people as well to look into it and give me another phone as I dont want to waste my time and keep burning my hands with this flop phone. Please do consider this issue if you are thinking about buying this phone specially for browsing or navigation purpose. All the best!

Yes my HTC One S gts terribly after after few minutes of use, specially after browsing. I am trying to get rid of this asap.

yes i have similar overheating issues with this phone. this phone has a manufacturing defect. I am one of the victims of this phone and I have been fighting since a long time trying to convince HTC that they must accept overheating problem with this phone but they are not willing to accept. I asked for any supporting data but they failed to provide. This is a very non professional response to an unsatisfied customer but they dont care. My advice to prospective buyers is that dont even think about this phone if you want peace of mind. Goodluck!
