The only thing that comes close that I can think of that exists today is the HTC Shift. It's an older device and came with Windows Vista installed but can be upgraded to Windows 7. It does have a 7" screen and when it slides up reveals a hardware keyboard so it's not completely iPad comparable.
Wow, that's pretty cool. Expensive, too. Not intended as a camera, probably resistive, cellular, bluetooth 2.0 stereo not specified. Pretty slick. Like the keyboard, setup.
Really dont like the screen ratios on the present slates--seem like made only for movies. I think a big reason for ipad success is portrait presentation.
W8 tablets are going to be announced at Computex this week. It starts Monday in Taipei and will be covered thoroughly by all the big tech blogs. Check Engadget and BGR for all the poop.
Another thing (a real longshot) to look at is the BlackBerry PlayBook. A couple things make this dark horse at least a remote possibility:
1. Very cheap now.
2. New OS update (v 2.1) coming out in a week or two. The last update helped immensely and this new version might do even more.
3. Great battery life.
While it's definitely not Windows, BlackBerry has always enjoyed a level of Windows compatibility beyond other operating systems. It may at least be worth a look if price is a major concern.
