How to Sell Pre Paid Phone with over $750 Credit available AT $0.20/Minute rate

Just wondering how to go about finding a buyer for my Telus Noika 3205i pre-paid phone with over $ 750 of Pre-Paid Credit.

I was thinking of transferring to a monthly account but this is limited to $100 or credit...

Is there a good way of Selling it ....

I.E. Can I sell it on ebay, change the owner profile and pass the phone on to the buyer ?

First, find out if Telus is willing to make an exception and move the entire balance over if you upgrade to post paid.

After that you realize you would be giving away your phone number with the phone. You should definitely cancel the top ups and make sure your card is either cancelled on your end or replaced on the account by the new owner.

Sell on ebay or kijiji or something like that should be ok after you remove the linked card.

That's why we were the first wireless company in North America to offer pay-by-the-second airtime, and why we don't charge an activation fee. NO scary contract to sign. Immediate national coverage. And a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Yes, it's finally time to get a wireless phone.

    DONT SELL IT!!!

Did you know that you do NOT have to top up anymore to keep your balance active?

If you want to extend it for another year just add the ROADSIDE assistance option for $40 and your balance will extend for 1 year...

Also you can get the text message option for $5 a month and it will keep your balance active until you reach $0 balance!!!!

Sounds like a Great Idea !

Can't find this in writing anywhere
, and definitely don't want to risk losing credit..so ...I have asked Telus directly to confirm.

Sounds like a good plan, as will be a way to finally take care of this bloated credit situation.

"Roadside assistance" appeals to me most, as I am not a texter...

I would assume before 1 year is up I would need to renew (Somehow) the roadside assistance again ? or does it autorenew ?

OK Here is the scoop....After asking the Telus rep to verify that the account expiry would be extended for 365 days if the roadside assistance was purchased, they told me it was not possible.....

I sent a complaint back to Telus about the call in question, and asked that they re-verify. A 2nd level rep did verify on their test account, and then we performed the same subscription on my acccount..Vola Next credit expiry date extended 365 days ! Thank you so much AahH... according to my calculations I have enough credit on the account for a free phone for the next 18.5 years (With Roadside assistance)...LOL....

I don't mean to come across as being mean but you are the one to blame here, I actually sent op an email and asking him to call me so I can tell him about it rather then making it Public on here. You should know not to make these things public. One Google Search and wham this thread is going to pop up. I do however totally agree with you that OP had the nerve to call customer service and he didn't stop there he went as far as putting a complain in writing to ask about this, after you and I try to help him out.

First and foremost, thanks to both of you for letting me in on your "Tricks of the Trade"

    FYI-I did send you a email (Jattdesi)-but didn't receive a reply....

As for my contacting Telus, ...my ESP wasn't working that day I guess and I couldn't differentiate between a standard feature and a 'Trick'..(Mybad)

Feel free to flag this thread as "Report Post" and possibly it will fade off into the ether world.....

    Have a great day

It is so rare to find good tips on prepaid on Telus forum here, and this thread is one of those gems! Thank you to AahH who shared about this trick.

My mom has a Telus prepaid but she rare uses it and the credit accumulates above $170. now and in 2 months I will need to refill again (usually $100/year, and not all places sell this voucher!), and it's a bit wasted. But first I need to change the name and address to me as she doesn't drive, before I will get the Roadside Assistance option. Good as I don't use BCAA (I don't like them at all), as this will be one way to extend it without paying. Wish I knew last year! But with this rate, I hope I don't have to refill for the next 3 to even 4 years, as she makes very few calls :-) .

The Text option is also good, at a slightly higher depletion rate, but my mom doesn't use texting at all.

What is interesting is why this works. Why would certain options trump the credit expiry which should be a straight forward date based on deposit time and value?

Brilliant... 18.5 years? think about this... if they fix this then it will not work next year.

OH AND JUST TO PUT SOME SALT IN YOUR GRANOLA YOU CANNOT RENEW ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE!!!

It is a 1 shot deal per account. The reason why I was never able to catch that was because I always set up a new prepaid line each year.

    My,never seen such hostility before.

Since I am already in hot water I figure I have nothing to lose... Can I assume I might be able to bundle the tricks you have provided to make this work ? I.E. 2 weeks before roadside assistance expires, could I purchase a 1 month Text Messaging option that would extend my Credit period for 30 days, thereby allowing the roadside assistance to expire. Then after expiry, but before Credit expires, re-purchase roadside assistance ?

By The way, I'll let you in on a secret but don't tell anyone.... IF you purchase from speakout7eleven.ca you can purchase a $25 prepaid card and the points don't expire for a YEAR. It works out to be the cheapest option, even better than the Telus Roadside assistance trick. (BTW They use Rogers Network)..Yes you do have to purchase a sim card and have a phone suitable for use with Rogers. I was just kidding about keeping it a secret. This is an advertised rate, and not a trick. SO IF you have been replacing your phone (New Pre-paid account every year) just switch over to speakout7eleven.ca (It's Also Free to transfer your #)

P.S. Yes I am a NB (It was actually my first post)

Speak out also has $1.25 or more 911Fee every month. So you can minus 15$ for the year or more from the $25 and you are only left with $10 of calling for the entire year

    Hey Jattdesi

    Absolutely correct...Glass Half Empty/Full....

Keep in mind the option for the Telus Roadside assistance for the year $40 gives you No Minutes per year...

If one is looking for a emergency phone and the cheapest rate, I don't think there is any other option that is as cost effective. Please correct me if I am in error...
