I talked to VM via Twitter today, and they report no data outages in my state all week, so it looks like it may be my phone. I'm gonna go exchange it at Walmart and see if the problem persists

Nope. No problems for me. I'm using it exclusively on 3G - in fact, I streamed Netflix for a good couple hours straight yesterday and it only buffered once. I don't normally stream Netflix on my VM phone since the screen is small but my bill cycle is almost up and I only used 500MB so I thought I'd try out my new Elite w/ Netflix. The Optimus V doesn't do Netflix (it lags) so I'm happy to see the Elite does it wonderfully.
Castrol EDGE 5W-30 is my drug of choice.

I actually noticed a good difference in the Netflix..no ridiculuous 600mhz lag haha
I was getting error code 67 on my first Elite. They couldn't fig out what the problem was, so I had to get a new one. 3g symbol disappeared and had no internet. Everything else worked fine.
I moved to the Elite from the OV two days ago which I got at BB for $129. The VM rep assured me I was good to go on my grandfathered plan. Last night was my billing cycle and it billed at $25 and it shows my NEXT month bill to be $25, so I am good to go with the Elite at $25/mon.
Ignore what has been written...you can upgrade to the Elite on the grandfathered play at least through the 19th.
My local Wally world doesn't carry VM phones, just the top-up cards. The next Wally World down the road does though, however it was further than the local BB charging $20 less for the phone.
As I just said, if you act NOW, you can add the Elite to the $25 grandfathered plan like I did.
I just posted a warning about installing Hotspot Widget you might wish to read if you thought about trying it.
battery life kinda sucks. feels like 3g/wifi drains faster than OV. also 3g doesn't reconnect as fast when using juice defender.
this was last night. i wanted to see how it performs without juicedefender. 8 hours and 20% drained. i'm still trying to figure out which apps were used during my sleep.

I have been had various phones over the last 2 years and just coming off the Optimus V. The elite is leagues better then the Optimus V. Its not even close. It looks exactly like on Ipod Touch minus the center button. Other then that, EXACTLY like it. Its super thin, easly 33% thinner then the Optimus V.
The screen is noticeably bigger, you wouldnt think so but it seem much larger. The internal storage has is 10x what the Optimus V is. People complain about it being only 800mhz but lets not forget thats 200mhz faster then the Iphone 3gs which is still being sold by contract companies.
The battery does drain a bit quicker then the OV but your going to get that with a faster CPU and your going to have a lot more running in the background with this phone. I had to barebones my Optimus V, now I have the freedom to put on whatever I want - without fear of filling the phones memory up.
Fully worth what I paid, a great upgrade to the Optimus V.
Couple of issues I am having..
Sometimes when i power off the phone completely it will turn off, then turn back on by itself .. show the LG logo and then go dark. I have to do a battery pull. Im not sure if that has to do with how much power the phone has or not.
Also, the phone has shut completely off on me once with a full battery. But only once in 2 days. Perhaps it was a OS crash of some kind.
I have notice more programs crashing with Gingerbread then Froyo.
Just out of curiosity before I purchase this phone, does it have WiFi hotspot or can you install Quick Settings like for OV? That is what is holding me back from purchase the phone. VM is slow, but I like having an internet source for my tablet.
My Elite locked up today with just the LG on the screen. Just before it locked up I noticed it had dropped network connection. Did a battery pull and it's okay now. This is not a good sign.. my OV never locked up.
