Has anyone tried Handcent group messaging yet? Apparently their last 3 updates have been working at getting iPhone group messages to work on android if you turn group messaging on. I turned it on but I haven't had anyone send me a group message yet so I can't really test it. I do however notice that some of my chad threads turned from the persons name to something like: 0,0,0,phone number. As if it were saving a single person thread as a group thread with no other users in it.

I only got error code 67 after installing the Hotspot Ap... had to do a factory reset to get rid of it. Not the phone's fault if you install something you shouldn't.

Trying to get mobile hotspot feature was the only things VM said was producing that error.

I'll add to that. When I look at "what has been using my battery the most" Google maps shows as using 66% of the battery. I can't figure out why maps would be constantly awake and running unless the app is constantly trying to find my location but location services are turned off. I keep task killer killing it and force stop as well but I can't get it's usage down.
Cell standby is only 15% so I'm thinking if I can solve the Maps issue that will greatly increase the life...

I've had the Elite for about 24 hours and it seems to overheat and shut down easily, especially while in my pocket. Replaced an OV with this phone and like it so far (the increased memory for apps alone makes it a good upgrade), but that overheating is a concern. Maybe I have a dud...

I was having the same issue, I did force close in application manager but it kept reopening right away but when I did the force close in the battery usage screen it did not reopen.

Can you elaborate on how you got rid of the error code 67 problem? I was curious and tried the Quick Settings app to see if you could use hotspot like with the older Optimus V and then got error code 67 with no 3G data connection. I tried a reset from the settings menu and then a hard reset (volume down + power) but when the phone reboots it goes right to the error code 67. I went through a whole string of things with one of their Facebook support reps on the phone and the problem has now been elevated for additional follow up.

I mentioned here earlier that you have to FACTORY RESET which is what I said earlier in this note string.

Your attempt to hotspot the phone corrupted a file in the phone according to VM and I had to do a FR to get rid of it. There was a another error someone mentioned, maybe 104 or something like that which they got after trying some sort of mod to the phone.

Regarding heat... All batteries get warm when being charged or drained fast. I think on this phone, due to the NFC antenna on the back, maybe it transmits more of the battery heat through the back cover. I can remember some times with my OV, even through a silicone case, it would be warm. Not hot.

I heard someone talking about the camera lens being too hot to touch. I suspect that was a gross exaggeration as I doubt it was hot enough to "brand" them, i.e. maybe it was a wimpy exaggeration.

Still hoping to find a way to root so I can use Titanium and it would be nice to be able to hotspot or tether, but maybe that will have to wait until a hacked ROM comes out.

Oh wow guys, I've seen Error 67 when hacking up my Optimus Slider to provide sweet delicious hotspotting capabilities. But, guess what, after the error appears everything switches to normal within 30 seconds. Even when things go entirely beserker, I can always restart my phone. And you're saying that even after doing a complete reboot the only way to fix this is to remove all the data on the phone.... ooh boy.

It's so good to hear the Elite is worth the extra effort and investment... Just gonna throw out that alternative for people looking to actually tether; the Elite is probably a bad idea.

I have the Error 104 problem, and I don't mod my phone. I don't root or anything. It's gotten the error since the first 20 minutes out of the package.

I'm also the one who spoke about the camera lense getting hot. It was not an exaggeration. It did not "brand" me, but was hot enough to say "ow!" When I accidentally touched it.

My phone is obviously defective based on the error that nobody(even VM) can explain and the extreme heat. Luckily I still have my receipt. I just gotta wait til I visit family tomorrow, because none of the Walmarts near me have them in stock.

All the companies make a lemon now and then and it is too bad you seemed to have gotten one.

I am accustomed to touching hot things so you wouldn't find me saying "ow", but I know they can vary in warmth and tolerance to it.

They make all those fan things and pads for laptop computers as people couldn't tolerate the heat from the computer and/or the battery charging circuitry. When we are charging and using the phone, it is like carrying around a light bulb creating heat, at the same time we are creating heat by trying to charge and replenish the battery, and there just isn't a way to do it, other than slow down the charging rate, then there would be complaints of slow charging. I still think the NFC antenna can be part of what is going on vs. strictly a plastic back.

Please forgive me for not going through these 5 pages, if this has already been addressed...

I just bought the Optimus Elite, with my grandfathered $25 plan, and everything is working fine. I've talked, texted, downloaded, browsed and everything else.

My problem however, is that I can't seem to sync my multiple GMail accounts and keep my downloaded apps on my main account.

I initially synced my phone to email "A," then download some apps. And then I remembered to add email "B" to GMail. When I try to download an app afterward, it saves to my "B" account. I've toggled between the two accounts in the Market, but I can't seem to get anything to save to email "A" while "B" is also synced to my phone. I was able to do this on the OV, so I know it's possible to toggle between accounts in the Market.

Anyone know how I may be able to fix it? Sorry if that was confusing to follow.

I'm having the same overheating issues near the camera lens myself, but it seems to only happen when I'm not connected to a wifi source. When on 3G, the phone gets really hot, then eventually simply shuts down. I have to do a battery pull to get it to boot up again. It's going back to Best Buy.

Mine doesn't heat up at all. I ran a test to how long the battery would last on 3G alone... after 24 hours had 39% battery. Not bad. Today after 10 hours on 3G and wifi, listening to internet radio on 3G for an hour, still had 75% battery. That's really good. Tunein Radio uses a lot of juice.

I get the same message from time to time, and I haven't done any modding or anything. I have 2 weeks to exchange it, but I don't want to lose my grandfathered plan. Would I lose it if I switched to a new phone, because of a defective one? I've only gotten the error twice, but if it keeps happening, I might have to switch.
