I can't access apps on the SD card, although in Settings - Storage it shows up.
I have Opera loaded on the card, but can't access it.
The phone has internal memory mistakenly called SD in some menus. Your real SD is referred to as the EXT_SD or ExternalSD and is actually "under" the SD which is the internal memory.

The additional internal memory compared to a lot of other phones, it is an assumption that you will put all programs on the internal memory. The actual SD is for videos, music, etc. which is where I understand the phone will put them.

The nice thing about this method is all the programs run quicker as they are in RAM vs. slower SD memory and if you pull the SD card, all your programs remain.

If you want to move over programs to install you can copy them to the SD and then use the file manager to move them to the internal memory.

I am guessing you are on a $35 plan already or don't care?

I like my Elite stock better than my hacked OV. I think anyone other than the little old lady who only takes her phone to church on Sunday would want the Elite over the OV with one exception, and that is the need for the mobile hotspot feature you would lose. To me, that and not running Titanium are the only downsides of the upgrade.

I decided to make the jump from the OV to the OE yesterday, just under the grandfather deadline.

I'm liking most things about the phone, but the battery life has me worried. Yesterday, it seemed like the battery was draining quickly. But of course, I was playing with my new "toy" quite a bit, so it was hard to tell.

This morning, I unplugged it with a full charge and left it alone. Two hours later, it'd down to 90%, with nothing too unusual showing on the battery usage (Cell Standby is the top user at 49%, with zero time-without-signal).

I'm hoping I can figure out what's going on here.

    Hi TS,
As you can see I did get the Elite after all.

File Manager - Is that an app ? I don't see it on any menu.
So you have to transfer any card contents to the phones internal memory before you can run them?

Under Storage, it says internal memory 1.9GB.
SD card says 7.35GB, so how do I access the card?
If I understand correctly, you are limited for APP storage to the 1.9GB,
and you can't run off the SD card.
Why have a card? I must be missing something.

BTW - Has that OS bug gone, that required you to toggle airport mode every boot?
Also, I see my Navi buttons are flashing at me, does that mean message waiting?

Oh yes. Anyone found a way of turning off, or reducing the volume of the Virgin Welcome audio?
    Thanks
    t

I did strike out twice before at Walgreens and HEB(Texas chain grocery store) that both had paypass terminals. The terminal at walgreens wasn't on, and the one at HEB recognized my phone and my phone said it sent data, but the paypass terminal was disabled in the point of sale machine so it did not go through. Hopefully they will fix that soon (though I can't be too mad as neither are listed as paypass merchants yet).
Do you have to use google wallet at a store to get the other 15?

I tried that and it just has the option of changing the ringtone to one of the ones that came on the phone, not mp3s from the SD card

If you go into your music player and select the song you want to use as ringtone, once you hit the menu key at the bottom, it will give you the option to select song as ringtone. Alternately, I found a free app called "MP3 Ringtone Maker" which will allow you to edit MP3s for use as ringtones or notification sounds. It works pretty nicely!

try making a folder called "media" on your sd card. inside that folder, make "alarms", "notifications", and "ringtones" folders. i put my custom ringtones/sounds/alarms in these folders, and I can select them when i do settings > sounds > ringtone (or notification)

nope $25, but if you get around and see the 999 post about the phones breaking for no reason, it can't tether, and if you read the new TOS, its not on the list of phones that will stay on the GF plans. ONly phones released before may1st are exempt, which the elite is not.

I found the battery has to go thru a few cycles, and gets better after each cycle. Let it discharge down to about 30 percent before you charge it fully again. Turn off the autosync feature.. use it only when you make changes you want to save to google. I also turned off most sounds, such as sound/vibrate with key press and other stuff I never need. Yesterday I listened to one hour of internet radio while on a walk, made a few phone calls and checked weather channel thru out the day. After twelve hours I still had 70 percent, so I think the battery is fine.

The phone is light, but is well made. I guess any phone can break for no reason, but if you get a bad one, get a replacement. The folks that activated the phone BEFORE May 27 will remain on the $25 plan.

Thanks! I see now that there are two music apps. There's Music and Music Player. I was using Music (the one with the headphones for the icon) and this option wasn't there. I didn't realize there were two apps. The method you mentioned works in the Music Player app. I wish this option worked in Music too, because I like the layout of that better than the Music Player app.

As far as I know you do not have to use it to get the other $15, just register and have it set up. Though I did read it will take up to 3 weeks to get the extra $15 which seems like a long period of time.

you may skirt the rules for a small bit of time but per the TOS your not exempt and they can force an upgrade at any time with no recourse.

"Starting May 27, 2012, if you are using the $25, $40, or $60 Beyond Talk plan and you upgrade to a Beyond Talk Smartphone launched after May 1, 2012*, you will need to switch to the $35, $45, or $55 Beyond Talk plan. *The following smartphones launched before May 1, 2012 and are therefore not subject to the new device upgrade rules at this time: VentureTM, LG ® OptimusTM Slider, HTC ® Wildfire STM, Motorola TriumphTM, LG ® Optimus VTM, Blackberry ® CurveTM 8530.""
