Maybe not, but the first person I talked to immediately ended the conversation and told me to call GoPhone CS who of course couldn't help at all.

Did you really call GoPhone CS?

They are the ones in charge of handling unlock requests from GoPhone customers. Do not call the regular at&t CS.

After I did the online chat with the regular CS who told me they couldn't deal with a GoPhone account, I then called GoPhone CS. They had no idea what I was talking about with an iPhone unlock. I then called regular CS and got it done. No, you don't have to talk to GoPhone CS to get an iPhone unlocked.

How does one avoid giving them the phone number?

Also, does anyone know if there is a minimum elapsed time for the gophone account, or can it be a very new gophone account?

I told them I got it from someone and didn't have an account.

When did you try this? I just tried, and now they require you to be an ATT customer to request an unlock.

I did it a couple of days after the unlocking went into effect. The CS person acted like it was no big deal at the time.

Well, after about 12, 13 days, I connected through iTunes and did a restore. Sure enough, the restore resulted in an unlocked phone! No word from AT&T that it was ready for this step, though. At least it CAN happen!

I did get an email a few days after talking to CS saying the unlock was active and I needed to restore. Glad you got it to work too.

Well I called up gophone cs telling them that I'm leaving the country in a few weeks and need my phone unlocked to be unlocked. They asked for the phones imei and I gave them my iPhones imei. They said, is this a iPhone? And I'm like yes. They sent the request and gave me a case number so I'll post if I get the email
