Problem with Epic Touch

About a week ago I purchased a epic touch used, checked the esn first came up clean, got the phone and activated through sprint. The phone would not do hands free activation so we manually programmed the phone with ##xxxxxx#. Well now I have voice and text but no data. We could not get data provisioning to go through. Well i was on sprint.com today and noticed the device comes up as a epic 4g, not touch. So I pulled the battery and looked at the model number on sticker and sure enough, it read as a regular epic. So apparently the esn has been modified. I know this is a taboo subject, but i am hoping someone might be able to help me out. Is there anyway to get the data working on this device?

I think I would take it to a sprint store and show them what has happened, and see if maybe they can find a fix.
