    Smile Help choosing new plan/provider

Hey all, long time fan/reader, never poster

My verizon wireless plan is expiring soon and it has come to my attention that they no longer offer "new-every-two" phone upgrades for everyone on my family plan. So, I'm looking to the community to help me sort out my options for cell phone service.

My goal is to spend $50 or less (preferably zero) for 3 HTCs or Motorolas or iphones that will last me for the duration of my next 2-year committment.

I am not tied to any carrier in particular; all carriers have great coverage in my area (at least according to their coverage maps!) - just outside of Chicago.

There are 3 of us on a family plan now (verizon). Two of us have Droid1s, the third has a non-smartphone. All three of us use text mostly, but one of us uses minutes a lot. The plan we need will have unlimited SMS/picture, a good amount of data (2gb+) and at least 700 minutes.

I would love to get a motorola razr but since we're on verizon atm, they will only give us a single $50 credit on one of our 3 phones towards an upgrade. Thus the reason for my wanting to switch. I really dont care if i switch providers every 2 years in order to get 3 new phones cheap. I would love to give my business loyalty to verizon but I have already contacted them regarding the upgrade and their obstinance has put a sour taste in my mouth. I even cited a news article that said they would grandfather in family plan "new-every-two" upgrades to those who were current customers at the time of the change, but they deny it. We've been customers for many years now and obviously think they "own" our business. HAH! we really dont care about what provider we use since we're in a decent service area. we mainly care about the unlimited texting/pictures and the 700+ minutes.

Thank you all for any suggestions. I really appreciate it

Verizon customer here with three lines. Yes, they did cut back; I believe everyone did. But I believe that offer was always only for the primary line.

Try Amazon. In particular, look at the Bionic. I have it and it is a great phone.

Don't think that article is correct. You still do have the $50 credit and unlimited? In general the best prices will be on the less popular, older models.

Thanks for the reply, I will check out Amazon & the Bionic. I never thought to check Amazon

And yes, we do have a single $50 phone credit, and unlimited text/voice/picture messaging for all 3 phones.
