Another black eye for VM. I know they weren't directly responsible for this "customs issue" but that is of little consolation for the many people who voluntarily upgraded their plans hoping to have an EVO 4G on May 31st. Now, nobody knows exactly when they'll be getting one of these things.

I just read VM's Facebook page. They're already doing the awkward apology routine with frustrated customers wanting to know why none of these phones are available for purchase today.

The problem is VM's name is attached to a bunch of phones that people pre-ordered (and upgraded their plans for) under the belief they'd have an EVO 4G on May 31st. That will not happen. In fact, VM is having a difficult time explaining exactly when these phones will be available. This is the second instance where the company has hyped a phone for weeks, only to have major issues during the roll-out.

The Triumph was a PR blunder for VM. It looks like the EVO V 4G is headed down that same path, allbeit for different reasons.

I got the radio shack backorder email but just within the last few min got an order confirmed email - I checked my status online and it says "items located in stock" which using their order status glossary means "The items that you selected and submitted with your order during Checkout are available and have been located in our warehouse."

I chose in store pickup to save on the shipping but also I thought they would have some already in store. Guess not.

saga continues - shack now appears to have charged my card according to the order confirmed email

Where are you seeing that "items located in stock" message? I checked my order status online, but don't see that. No cancel button now, and no bank charge yet.

The VM Facebook page has exploded with angry people demanding answers. How embarrassing for them.

Meh, it will blow over. It's nothing like Triumph fiasco. The phone itself is good, as soon as VM gets the phone in stock, the angry comments will disappear and it will all be forgotten because people will be too busy playing with their phones.

It is now available to order on Virgin Mobile USA site.

Is Radio Shack offering the best deal? They have $20 coupon, but you still have to pay sales tax (if any).
If you willing to work the system, buy $300 worth of refil from keepcalling.com @5% off. You pay $285 to keepcalling.com. Apply the $300 to your virginmobileusa account, and use the $300 to purchase the phone. Net cost is $285.

I have been to 4 RadioShacks so far in SF and none have had any idea that a new phone was even coming, let alone when. Two were even selling Motorola triumphs at $279!

If anyone does get one today, can we get clarity on the processor? Its never officially been confirmed that its a dual core, but I don't ics will run on a single core, and even the VM USA website is nebulous regarding its processor.

FWIW, when asking VM for details about the 3D screen, their reply included this about the processor:

"This phone comes with a faster 3rd-generation dual-core Snapdragon processor."

Devs have ICS running on the Optimus V and Evo 4G (just two of the many phones that have it working).
It will certainly run on a single core.
Your village called, they want their idiot back.
