Next year around this time (or possibly the Fall) would be 2013. If Sprint is passing down an LTE-capable handset to its prepaid divisions, wouldn't that mean prepaid customers will see LTE service before 2014?
Sprint is always going to look for ways to increase revenue from its large number of prepaid customers; hence the required $35 plan for WiMax phones. The sooner they can get more subscribers on LTE, the sooner they can implement even costlier prepaid plans. Plus, if they don't act quickly, VM and Boost risk losing customers to T-Mobile or other carriers which might have better prepaid 4G options.
Sprint should really have a prepaid LTE option available by Christmas 2013. If not, they will have fallen behind in the game.
