    Porting out info needed?

I read someplace else that when you're porting from AT&T go phone that you need an account number and a pin that is not the phone number and password that you use to log into the go phone website. Any truth to that?

Absolutely true. An account number that is not on the website.

When I called, I had no problem getting it immediately, if it makes you feel any better.

I agree; it's not available on the web, but it's not a problem to obtain from a CSR over the phone. They may ask why you want the account number (as if they didn't already know). Hopefully plenty of people will tell them the real reason they are porting.

I'm willing to bet there is no exit survey or retentions department so I don't doubt that it won't be hard to get the info from them. Just two more weeks and I'm out.

Yes, this is one of the few companies I deal with that really shows a completely lack of interest in keeping me as customer. My insurance company, my cable company, my bank, my credit card provider and my cheap VoIP provider go to great lengths to retain me even when I just hint that I may leave. at&t just says: "Don't let the door hit you on your way out"

They did warn me I would lose my prepaid data and the $35 still left in my account. Once I got the port started, I donated the money. The CSR never asked why, but at least had that courtesy, to say "You realize...".
