You should see one in person. It's a gorgeous design and begs to be fondled. I'm an iPhone user but IMHO the Lumia 900 is the best looking phone on the market, bar none. What I do not like is WP. As a Mac user one would naturally assume I hate all things Windows. But I have no allegiance to a brand or a platform. Whatever works best for me is the tool I'll choose. Right now it's the iPhone. Used to be BlackBerrys. If the Lumia comes to Sprint (I have a ridiculously cheap family plan) and they come up with a modicum of Mac integration support I'll definitely try one.

I HATED the live tiles at first, but the concept has grown on me. What I still don't like is the way they leave a gap on the right side of the screen. Why waste all that real estate for just a button in the upper left corner. They couldn't have figured a different way to do that?? How about eliminating it completely and making it just a swipe gesture to access the next screen. Or put the button at the top and eliminate a 1/4 inch from the top of the screen instead of the 1/4 inch all the way down the right side. The way they implement in now the screen looks offset to the side. Incredibly unpolished appearance. It makes me think that maybe the beta test really isn't over yet. It's just not as elegant as it could be. I have to assume there is some patent for swiping to the side to access the next screen and WP doesn't want to violate that patent. But geez, this gap down the entire long side of the screen is the best thing Microsoft could come up with??

The glass absolutely doesn't stick out from the bezel on the 900. Nokia went with the bezel instead of the flowing glass on the N9/800 to prevent scratches when the phone is set face-down (and to shave manufacturing costs, I'd guess).

My opinion on why they did that was to differentiate which screen you're on in an aesthetically pleasing, though subjective, way. I'm sure you're aware that the gap is on the left side when in the Application screen.

I'd also say the gap is there to give your thumb or finger a place to "grab" and swipe without accidentally launching something or having the phone recognize it as a long press. It's kind of a "place your thumb on the right side of the screen to swipe left" subliminal message Looks weird, yeah, but I'm used to it.
    The definition of irony...

I wonder if TMO will carry this phone... There were some rumors a little while ago, but they all seemed to quote the same one source too, so that makes them even more unreliable...
