AT&T Avail software update?

I ran a check for updates on my mom's phone and it began downloading an update, but it got stuck at 10% and I cancelled it. Of course, in AT&T's stingy fashion, once you checked for updates you can't retry for 24 hours. Has anyone else with an AT&T Avail tried to update?

If you go into your settings and manually set the date and time of your phone for a day or more in the future, you can immediately retry the update. Afterwards then you can correct the date/time. I have done that several times when an update got stuck..... for some reason stuck and botched updates seem common.

After many failed attempts, it started the download again tonight, but again it seems to be stuck at 12%. Has anyone had luck downloading the update?

EDIT: After an eternity stuck at 12% the update close and a few seconds later a message popped up. "Unable to complete the update at this time. Please try again tomorrow."

Here's a picture of how the update screen looks. Since my mom uses her phone in Spanish, here is a translation of what the screen says:

System software update
Downloading software update. This can take several minutes.

To complete the update the device will restart before you can use it again.
