recent data crashes w Sprint phones on Page Plus

Has anybodies data stopped working on their sprint phone activated on page plus?

Yes a few of our customers have had this problem. And a couple dealers on the prepaid dealers FB group have had this issue also. Apparently it's not affecting everyone. It seems to be affecting customers who have had their number for a while. I switched my son to another evo and couldn't get the data back working.

ok, so here is what does NOT work. authentication reset. tried 4 times, no go! getting very upset with their 0 liability policy

Did you try doing an esn change to a dummy esn, activating/flashing the phone to a new number, then esn swap back to the original number. This worked for me on several phones that I couldn't get data to kick in.

Excuse my ignorance here, but haven't I read in this forum that data won't work for Sprint phones activated on PP? How did you get data in the first place? Voice and text only for Sprint phones has been the rule, but it might have changed.

There are ways to get data working for Sprint phones on PPC involving phone modification, either by the user or by paying a flashing service. For whatever reason, some that previously had data working have now stopped.

We use to use CDMA workshop to flash Sprint Androids, but it is too complicated and time intensive for my employees. Now we use one of the custom flashing solutions where all they have to do is choose the phone model and input the MIN/MDN and the software does the rest. It flashes most Verizon 4G phones too. There is a monthly subscription, so it isn't the cheapest solution. As we aren't allowed to post links, PM me and I will send you their info.

In southern cali all data is still working. Some verizon areas i was told by verizon are changing or upgrading towers for lte which is why data might b hit n miss in some areas.
And frankly, if its android sprint its easy to do for basic talk text data. Mms is usually the problematic part.

Situation

1+year activated PP number on evo. 3G Doesn't work.

1. Switched number to Verizon Htc. 3G worked.
2. Reactivated EVO with new PP number ($2 Balance). 3G worked.

I was told that if I added a monthly plan on to the newly activate PP number on the EVO, then data would immediately stop working. I did not get a chance to try that.

Thoughts.

-PP/Verizon is not allowing "Unknown Handsets" on a plan to receive data anymore.
-PP/Verizon is sweeping the system for "Unknown Handsets" and is restricting 3G access

Page Plus won't help you if you have and "unknown device". And all sprint phones show up in their system that way.

I don't think they care if it works or not.

Verizon is probably clamping down on data usage also. Plus the 1 gig plan is beyond the amount of data PP can afford to offer. So instead of moving back down to 500 MB they are sweeping the system to eliminate usage.

If I was only concerned with the numbers, that's what I would do.

I dont think thats the problem. I have a phone with this data issue, so I cloned the esn of a pageplus phone to the sprint phone, then programmed it and did the data settings, and its still doing the same thing.n If your theory was true, the phone should work since pageplus would recognize the phone as a pageplus and not a "unknown" device" and they wouldn't block the data from it.

i think you are right.. i do know verizon is testing lte towers in my area and it has been kicking 1x on/off but when the customer drives away from my area (different state) to i guess a different tower, they told me it came back on. not sure if a new prl is needed or what. its also hit and miss for me, i did one in morning with no data, and than again in afternoon with data. same model phone and same new activation.

i think if its just testing lte towers, drive away from your city and see it it comes back on. that is one way to test this theory but i have had few different people told me it didnt work anymore in the city or near my store but did work outside.
