PP is remarkably obtuse and indifferent about BYOD. I'm not sure whether to advise against using them, or just advise against flashing Sprint devices for PP use. They almost make offshore technical support look bright and helpful.
[edit: ftr, they are, surprisingly, American]
Check and see if any of them have the wrong MIN. I was given an alleged MIN in the 615 area code (nashville TN) for an account in TX - fought with the phone for a few days and got scolded more than once by PP's staff about having an "unsupported device."
I got nowhere until I asked them to confirm my MIN one more time.
I'm still hunting down another issue with the AAA/HA secret but I'd start with the easy one?
Update: I don't know about your issue(s), but I've found that I had to use the 16-digit "AAA" key as the shared AAA secret instead of "vzw"
Although "vzw" indeed seems to work for the most part, I ran into spots where it won't accept this.
This is my first foray out of GSM providers/handsets so I've had a hell of a time with this.
It seems that when the phone first gets activated, it connects using "vzw" and then retrieves the "AAA" key which is specific to your activation(?) -- anyway, turns out that despite retrieving the 16-digit AAA key successfully on first activation, my handset never did anything with it -- like applying it to my active profile.
Also I dont know if this matters, but my SID is 4119 (Dallas TX, what was this, former Primeco?) and I currently have a lock on 8.
Could I get some input from you dealers with these issues? What SID is being assigned to your customers, what are you associated with at your store(s)?
For the guy whose phone works 45 minutes away, where are you associated or roaming out there?
Are the handsets at issue using "vzw" as the AAA/HA password ?
I've fought with this for the better part of the day, and 3G is very temperamental. My phone will repeatedly throw errors about not being connected and then intermittently load pagers.
However I finally "got data" by blanking out the 3G credentials (user/pass). This forces my phone to associate with 1x data.
But it is working 100% solid on 1x and that's better shape than I've been in for the last two days.
I'm going to need to associate my account with a different handset and then re-associate with this phone to see if obtaining a new AKEY will authenticate me with 3G, however, I'm not bothering with that (yet) in light of the larger issue the rest of you are having.
i have close to 50 customers without data right now and i have reflashed with houdini and esn swapped to no avail. 1 customer told me it works like fifty miles away but wont work any closer. not sure why it is though
There are ways to get data working for Sprint phones on PPC involving phone modification, either by the user or by paying a flashing service. For whatever reason, some that previously had data working have now stopped.
Tried different prls so far cannot find the secret yet

It has something to.do.with them testing towers in your area for.4g. Go to.a.Verizon store and ask them what's up with the towers. They told me.they were testing for an entire month and.afterward all flashed phones came back on 1x. The password I use is vzw. The prls I used were 51600 which is what I have always used for flashed Verizon 4g phones and sprint phones. When the data dropped I changed prls, reflashed, swapped numbers and esns. Some worked and some didn't but now.everything is back to normal. All phones I flash have data. Just.give it time.
Also during this process I flashed.from.page plus to.vzw prepaid and data worked fine. Flashed back.to.page plus and no data. But after towers were.done testing I reflashed and same phone works every time.
Hey y'all. I try to post useful information here but I missed the boat on this one, so just as an update, I had to follow a procedure to activate on a different phone and then copy that mobiledata provisioning information to my sprint phone, which I also manually plugged various other variables into.
What I had previously thought was "intermittent" 3G service, had turned out to be intermittent 1x service after all. I did :not: have 3G data prior to doing this "correctly" after all.
Stick with Verizon 3g phones and avoid all this if possible. Byod on cdma is never as easy as gsm...
Yeah, confirmed as above. VZW devices pull all the right info OTA. Other carriers devices require babysitting and I'm more or less hosed if I restore my phone or reset the network settings on it, I will have to manually program that all in again. I did a factory reset and had no data again. I can deal with that but it's almost not worth the hassle.
Yes a few of our customers have had this problem. And a couple dealers on the prepaid dealers FB group have had this issue also. Apparently it's not affecting everyone. It seems to be affecting customers who have had their number for a while. I switched my son to another evo and couldn't get the data back working.
You weren't doing anything strange like flashing the same 3G credentials onto multiple phones were you? That works for, oh, a little bit, and then they shut you down. I ask, because I think my samsung fascinate is blackballed now, couldnt activate with new service.
