Is this happening to you as well? ESN change and... WTF! dial and sudden death!!!

For the longest now, since Oct or Nov, any esn change I do either VZW or flashed phone, it fails call out. 75% of any VZW handset and 99% of any flashed phone, when doing an esn change and making a test call show like a call is being made then hangs up, or authentication error. God help when you try and get help, I get 1 or 2 helpful csr reps that will take the time to actually do the work involved and fix it.

My results to get it fixed are mixed:
1- ESN change to a PP handset, OTA, test call, esn change back to CPE (custm. provided handset) or VZW handset, fixed.
2-Call into PP, CSR changes to test unit they have then back to ours, fixed.
3-Really exhausting, CSR if feeling happy that day, calls VZW tech support, they fix authentication and some other issue which they wont tell me and its fixed.

OR the dreaded CSR that tells you this is not a PP handset, "we dont activate non PP handsets I cant help you", then hangs up on you.

One CSR went out on a limb and told me a few areas here in Cleveland are experiencing same issue and in Toledo as well, where PP is located. The master here has also mentioned that he has made PP aware of our problem and was told that VZW is not planning on fixing this issue, or the claim there are no issues they are aware of.

Ive tried various prls to see if thats the issue but to no avail. I d like to know if there any remedies I can try to resolve it without calling PP.
Life is an internal struggle, modding phones is a PITA.

I haven't experienced that problem, CellFonePimp, and I haven't noticed any kind of pattern like that reported by others.

But it is very unlikely that a PPC CS would actually say "we dont activate non PP handsets I cant help you". That would be stupid since I'd guess that is what they activate 98% of the time.

Trust me its been said over and over again to me, Ive tried not to argue with them because it would be pointless. I simply mention that Ive been selling them since PP existence and move on to the next CSR.

As for selling only "approved" PP handsets, It happens on a small scale to those as well.

Besides Ive never sold PP hs and never will, unless it becomes a sole method of selling PP, Im not a big fan of their lineup.

One work around Ive been having success with this past week is manual programming, its up'd the ratio 40%.

Forgot to mention, when PP CSRs tell me its the handset, I activate it with them on the phone, make a test call and show them its not the hs, only on ESN change it fails to register and authenticate.
