That's true, but at least if you have line of sight you'll probably have a signal.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that call boxes do help in limited areas (especially along interstates). I live in Florida and we have call boxes on interstates as well. There are areas along I-95 and I-75 where there are no exits or service stations for many miles. Clearly there are spots that no cellular company can even offer coverage. There are areas in the Florida Everglades that no carrier is allowed to erect towers due to environmental concerns. Just sayin'
If I'm annoyed and you're annoyed, does that make us a paranoid ??

We have areas like that here in Mendocino County, like Jackson State Forest between Willits and Fort Bragg-

    http://g.co/maps/88ksn

    "
    Established:
    1949
    Area: 48,652 acres
    Elevation: 80 - 2,200 ft.
Precipitation: 39 in per year along coast
    70 in per year inland Temperature: Max: 100 F - Min: 25 F

Jackson is the largest of CAL FIRE's eight demonstration state forests. Located in the middle of California's coastal redwood region, on the western edge of Mendocino County at Fort Bragg. The area has a long history of industrial logging activity, which began in 1862 and continued under private ownership until the State's purchase of the property in 1947. Today, more forest growth occurs each year than is harvested. The most common tree on the forest is coast redwood, but visitors will also find Douglas fir, grand fir, hemlock, bishop pine, tanoak, alder, madrone and bay myrtle. "

Also I said i would not blame any carrier in this situation. Any carrier includes Tmobile. If AT&T service doesn't work for you, then don't use it. It's a free country.
I believe there is something in the TOS saying they are allowed to delete a 6 month old voicemessage while changing services as well....what's your point?

Yep sure do....fine print can be spun 100 different ways...for both T-Mo and AT&T

    Not In My Backyard....

They want the convenience of something, this case good cell service, but they do not want to view the "ugly" cell tower in their yard.

And to add to that, they are the first ones to scream and holler when their phone doesn't get reception at their house.

The main highways, like 101, 20 and 1 are regularly patrolled by the CHP too, however, if you get up someplace like Tomki Road on the north end of Redwood Valley going up Laughlin Ridge, and it's snowing and/or raining hard, and pitch dark, you may not have cell signal at all, and no call boxes on that road as only the main roads, like US 101, CA 20, CA 1, CA 128, etc. have them, or up 162 going into the Mendocino National Forest (it turns to dirt a few miles east of Covelo), be prepared.
I still don't see the usefulness of those Call Boxes anymore, maybe in remote places in Cali. However, at the same time. If something happens on most of the roads that "do" have those call boxes, there is probably a guy driving down the road less than a mile behind you. Like somebody said, they were great in the 90's, but so were Pay Phones. Last time I drove through Illinois, they had them on the Interstates, really? Unless the people of these states aren't helpful and would just drive by. The few times I have seen an incident on any highway here in Kansas, and recently I was two cars behind a van that flipped multiple times. Within one minute 20-30 cars are stopped to offer a hand with at least 10 people trying to call 911, ironically only Verizon got through (knock on wood.) It would have taken longer than that to walk or drive to a "nearby call box." I don't entirely know why you brought it up in this thread like it would have made a difference, even if we had call boxes every mile on every Federal, State and Local highway, they would have been of no help to this couple. That money would be better spent making sure our rural highways are covered with cellular service. I'd rather send my dollar on my vehicle registration to that.

My first choice is having great cell service but call boxes can help too. I'm my area lots of people would keep going before someone would eventually stop it seems so good cell service is very helpful these days

That has absolutely nothing to do with that guy's voice mail being deleted...... It's talking about deleting data on a device, not at the voice mail server. Nice try though.

Located at the bottom of the page, second paragraph up........ Plain as daylight and without the spin.

AT&T does not guarantee availability of the network.

Voice messages are considered user data, stored on T-Mobile's system.

Bell-south is not what the users who spun off the road had....

Seems its not the NIMBYs, the reason coverage is so poor is simply the inaction of the cellular carriers, and yes the map shows things should be just fine there, but obviously, its not. http://www.wireless.att.com/coverage...44394265&sci=4
That same landline carrier would charge a subscriber an exorbitant fee to run copper wire up the side of a mountain to connect to vacation homes. The landline carrier wants the wireless carriers to fill in the gaps so they do not have to.
