$10 Data sharing for iPad question

    /rant mode enabled

Has anyone managed to get data sharing enabled on their account recently? I have the LTE enabled 6GB BlackBerry (BIS) Data Plan and just want to add the $10 sharing plan so I can use my iPad without tethering to my iPhone. Every time I call the call center they want me to change my plan, renew a 3 year data contract, or go on some other dumb flex plan... I already have a data plan that works for me as I only end up using a few gigs max and swap between a few phones depending on what I am doing. I don't want my contract date changed or anything else screwed with on my account. Does Rogers not realize that I can 1) just swap the SIM card over to the iPad or 2) enable tethering on the iPhone. I don't have to pay them anything extra cent for these services but for convenience sake I would not mind giving them an extra $10 for the sharing option. Is it too much to ask that I just pay for the service I want or are they just not customer focused what so ever any more? (Me: Here take my money for what I want! Rogers: No sir we wont do that!)

Please if anyone can point me to a method to accomplish this seemingly simple request - speak up!
Or of anyone from Rogers wants to chime in - I am all ears.

You probably have the non-shareable version of the 6GB plan. Nothing you can do now unless you want to switch your plan.

Screw that - I would prefer to give another provider my $$$ if that's the case. (here MTS/Telus!)

It may be either an old fashion (or perhaps a cutting edge) view that I picked up over the years but when a client who does not need to give you any money but offers to give you money anyway - you find a way to make em happy and take the money. (or you should find another line of business)

It's not like I am asking them to give me $200 off my bill or every service under the sun for free. I want a service they offer, for the price they offer it at added to my account. This is not rocket science - I don't care how they justify it, code it, or the details of how it gets done.

I think Rogers is going to have to come to realization soon that they or not special or premium. They offer the identical coverage, the same (or worse) handsets, and have poorer bundling options then other providers I have access to. None of my handsets are locked, and with the recent legislation on ETF/ECF's it's a cake walk to port to another provider and cancel them.

Where is this famous customer service I keep hearing about? (and about the only thing Rogers has left going for them)

Then why don't you do that? That will be the only way Rogers will learn. You ranting here does nothing.

Agreed. I understand the rant, but in this case there is an obvious and easy solution. I'm not normally one to use the 'if you don't like it then leave' line but it seems appropriate in this case. One thing I'll never agree with nor understand is begging to give Rogers money if they refuse to take it. They've got their hands in enough pockets against people's will.

Sign up for twitter and ask @Rogers_Helps

They switched me from 6GB /$30 (I got this almost 2yrs ago when I got iPhone 4) to a LTE Ready 6GB sharing $30 plan with no contract extensions. I then added the $10 iPad share successfully.

Yah no issues here either. I called, asked for data share with my 6GB plan and it was added. No headaches. Good luck.

It's not an issue if you had the data share ready 6Gb or if the data share ready 6GB plan was in market at the time you signed up. However, as of today, the data share ready 6GB plan has been discontinued and the OP will not be able to get it.

The 6gb LTE Data Share $30 is not in the market but its under retentions only and it also depends on the retention agent, so you might need to call multiple times to get the right retention agent if you're not lucky.

Or maybe try that twitter to rogers care thing because I see alot of people here in the hofo getting positive results in this method.

So read up more, there's alot of threads about this matter here at Rogers section and hopefully you get the right advice and good techniques to attain what you want.

The retention 6GB plan is available but the SOC code is not shareable.

Seriously, use the twitter help like the other guy mentioned, I just had mine switched to the plan you want, no questions asked. And they were very nice about it.

Yeah, i found the twitter is much helpful even than the retation. The only thing they can do is give you credit/discount.

I had the older $30 iPhone 6 gig plan from a few years ago. Retentions switched me to the data share plan for LTE for my iPad But they screwed up and charged the $60 plan to my account. They couldn't do anything about it now as they said the $30 LTE Data share Plan is expired right now. They gave me some credits to make up the difference.

I also tried the Twitter route with @rogershelps and they are a really good team an follow up etc. They told me the plan was avail but they were getting errors adding it to my account. 2 weeks later, their back end guys said they couldn't add it. They referred me to the Office of the President to took another 5 days to review and came back saying the plan is not available right now and is expired. They were nice and gave me some credits for the inconvenience BUT in the end I still have the $60 6 Gig LTE data share plan. She said if it comes avail, call and they will switch it over.

Really like to know how some people are getting this and others can't. Is it because I am on an iPhone and their on Blackberrys? Does it matter for 3G data?

I switch like a week ago, and i can still use bis on blackberry. So i guess once you already have a blackberry account, the new data plan to adopt it right away. And for you situation, you can just ask retention give you a $30 data credit, if the switch can't be done, while i don't think so.
Some times you have to keep fighting to get things.
Like when i switch mine, i didn't know my data renewed 3yr, so when i called again, get a $5 credit and they can even change the term to fit my voicr plan, which is next yr, instead of 3yr.
And also i find interesting is, since i am not yet switch my ipad to the $10shareing but stillkeep the $5promo , my total data counting is 6154mb( 6144mb=6gb + 10mb). So, i don't even know if i need to switch the ipad plan at all.

I have the 6gb LTE shareable data plan. I tried to add the $10 data sharing option and though they said it is possible, they advised me to wait as they sort out the problems that only 50% of the time, the data sharing works.

This was through twitter. I dont get much help from phone support
