That isn't a coverage map though. Make sure you take a picture of the part that says to check an actual map.

AFAIK The op shouldn't be able to do a #228 on 4g phones because they use a Sim card and will just give an error saying they were activated by same - at least mine does....

It still shows a speckled patchwork of 4G LTE and Extended LTE, sit in the middle of a large solid zone...no LTE.
To my knowledge, no where in San Bernardino City does Verizon have LTE coverage, despite the map showing several large areas. I stand by that. It is a lie to show coverage, when in fact that area hasn't been built out yet.
Yeah, in general Verizons maps look like they were slapped together in Microsoft Paint. I never rely on them. Honestly they suck. You can be in an area it shows as 4G and get 3G. And vice versa. Or be in an area that is supposed to be strong 3G and get 1x. Hell, I've seen all 3 of those happen in one spot. Yet when you look at their map it's supposed to be solid 3 or 4G.
Their maps are more for advertisement purposes rather than real world experience usage.
Okay, today verizon upgraded coverage for their 4g lte, and their map now shows the city of flemington, nj as being covered. I went down today to test this and found no coverage there. I was at the circle where rt 31 meets 202, and the went to the basil bandwagon (31 reaville ave, flemington, nj) and there was no 4g, tried rebooting, airplane mode on and off, made sure I was in cdma/lte mode, my phone has never had trouble picking up LTE before, even just yesterday it was fine. The address I provided is clearly in the lte coverage area, true coverage not extended, and it gets great 3g signal but no 4g in sight. So I now can say 100% this thread is correct in its title, from personal experience, even if it is in a different area than the original one mentioned.
This kind of thing has happened before, oddly enough. The Saginaw, Michigan and Mt. Pleasant, Michigan markets were displayed as covered on a launch date over a month before Saginaw's actual launch, and multiple months before that of Mt. Pleasant. In addition, a state road running between them was shown as fully covered. Close to a year later now, and it's still not covered. The coverage disappeared about 2 days after initially appearing, and to this day I don't think anybody knows what the heck ever happened. The coverage never actually existed though, that's for sure.
VZW sure is screwy sometimes. If there really isn't coverage there, give them a call. At the very least, that will get them to correct their map quickly.
I can name plenty of areas where Verizon shows perfect coverage on the map and in each of those areas they have no signal whatsoever.
