Samsung Galaxy Note i717D: Use VKL modem

You can convert the Telus/Rogers i717 (r/d) to AWS by using a modified Samsung T989 modem.
To save you all the trouble of playing around with various modems, I have found that the VKL modem is the most reliable for VOICE and MMS. Data is still slow (~200kb/s) but doesn't crap out like other modems.
Modems tried:
KJ3: slow data, dropped calls, does not transmit voice
LB7: dropped calls, unreliable voice, slow data
KID: slow data, no MMS
VKL: reliable and decent voice, MMS, slow data
It's the best you can do if you really want a Note but can't wait for T-mobile to release their version.

It will definitely have PCS (1900) 3G due to T-Mobile's efforts to refarm spectrum. Don't know if it will have 850 as well but the SGS2, Amaze and various others have it so it's not a far stretch of the imagination.

There is no other phone more expansive than this. At 5.3" (134.6mm), this is the largest screen you can get.
It was only $200 on Telus with contract, etc. The person I got it from already has an unlocked iPhone, so it works out for everyone.
I highly doubt Wind/Mobi will get this phone. At the full retail of $780, there aren't too many people willing to fork over the money. I highly doubt Wind will want to suck up the $600 hardware subsidy on Windtab+.

the unlocked, rooted and flashed at&t model is $599 at Canadagsm.ca
wind doesnt offer full coverage of the cost do they? i thought there was a $500 cap? or is this Wind tab+ ?
anyways if you can wait for the T mob version, do it, however the phone will be almost a year old by then
Oh and regarding the battery, its a 2500mAh.

i hate touch screen but if wind offering this phone, i think i will go for it cuz you know bigger screen easier to type
i guess wind can't really get this phone because it was originally not for AWS @.@
