Piss poor speeds here. About dialup speed if lucky.
In response to the title of this thread, Page Plus utilizes the nationwide 3G coverage provided by Verizon. As far as average speeds, that all depends on the user, but like I said, Page Plus operates on the Verizon network. So, it should be quick and reliable compared to others.
Verizon's 3G is overloaded in many areas, where I used to routinely get 1.75 to 2Mbps I am now lucky to get 0.75Mbps especially during the day/peak times. There are just too many users and devices on there.
Verizon 3g speed in Nashville, TN, where I live, (Middle TN in general and everywhere else that I have traveled for work - San Diego, NY, Portland, Austin, Chicago, Tampa, Baltimore, Atlanta) is just fine for my needs.
Have I done a speed test to compare monthly speeds? No.
I use the "am I able to download web pages, view and respond to emails and texts, web performance in general test" and the network is fine.
Everything works. That is all I care about.
Oh yeah - no dropped calls - very important for me.
I am on America's Largest and Most Reliable Wireless Network..
Thank you Page Plus.
There are people that have given up their cable or DSL internet connection and only use their phone's 3G or 4G connection. When they want to connect their PC, they tether it to their phone and they save $50/month.
Because of the pricing structure, this would be insane on Page Plus, but the old saw about it being "fast enough for me to do email when I am away from home" is not as applicable as it used to be. Heck, QNC was fast enough for me when I used opera mini, but that answer doesn't do much for people anymore.
If there are individuals who have "given up their cable or DSL internet connection...they tether thier phone.."
I would suggest the TMob 30 dollar plan or Virgin/Boost for prepaid. If they want unlimited data they might want to look at Sprint post paid. I do not see how one could use Page Plus in place of DSL or cable when tethering (unless the individual is using less that one GB per month). I just do not see PP as a viable alternative for this type of use.
One of my kids has this plan and it works out very well (edit - AS LONG AS YOU STAY IN POPULATED AREAS). Pre-4G speed, unlimited data and text and a small pool of voice minutes (100 minutes, I think). For the smartphone user, it's great. Add GrooveIP and you can talk all you want, too.
For the user not interested in data, or who uses data only on Wi-Fi, I still think P+ TnT1200 is the best plan going.
Castrol EDGE 5W-30 is my drug of choice.
