Same reason the PayPal app on iOS says not to use it if your iPhone is jailbroken. Removing the security layer allows for effectively uncontrolled inter-app interactions. Sandboxing and runtime restrictions are pretty much gone.
Unlocked iPhone 5, unlocked iPhone 4
Unlimited airtime, Unlimited CAN/US long distance, Unlimited SMS to CAN/US wireless numbers
2500 Call Forwarding minutes to CAN/US numbers
    CiD, 6GB
Google Voice for visual voice mail with message transcription, conditional greetings, unlimited messages (vs 35 message cap), remote retrieval from any PC or phone, no auto-purge after 10 days and most importantly no $7-$8 charge.
    $53

I don't see the point of this if it's just to use credit card information as payment. I always thought this mobile wallet thing was so your cell phone bill got charged in case you don't have your debit or credit card, but if it's just using your Credit Card info anyway, why not just use your credit card? Not nearly as great as I thought this was going to be.

It looked for a while like there would be different flavours. There was talk of the model you mentioned, where it gets charged to your cell bill, talk of Apple doing it via your iTunes/iCloud account and then the model introduced this week, where it bills to your credit card. I figure the account that it gets charged to isn't all that important. I expect the standard will allow the app you open to to determine where the bill ends up. Perhaps some will allow you to have multiple options to select at payment time. Not certain though.

All I want is a app I can transfer my funds and then use it to pay via NFC... I rather like google wallet than that cibc crap.

Have you fully read what the CIBC app can do? Use your banking app to make payments to your CC account and boom 2 business days that account has it - I'm sure CIBC Customers have their transactions for clients with accounts process immediate payments to their branded-Visa/MasterCard accounts. Not that hard to do really.

BB has proven security layer, despite their image currently in the mobile space. They've been testing NFC for almost 5-6yrs now, almost as long as these various payment systems. GoogleWallet ... I'm trusting that with a 49 1/2 foot pole with their infancy and lack of security (there have been reports of issues even without jailbreaking) - yet its gaining traction.

Besides, BB still holds the majority of corporate users - at least in Canada vs any platform and of those corporate users - the ones with serious $$ and lots of corporate credit cards (our co. has Amex) this is a big move for RIM. Advertising has to be BIG by RIM+Rogers+CIBC ... I'm sure a kick back from the CC company's is bound to happen so not much lost in a qtr time period for expensive advertisement (expense it).

We'll see what comes of this.
